About this movie

Filmed over 12 years with the same cast, Richard Linklater's BOYHOOD is a groundbreaking story of growing up as seen through the eyes of a child named Mason (Ellar Coltrane), who literally grows up on screen before our eyes. Starring Ethan Hawke and Patricia Arquette as Mason's parents and newcomer Lorelei Linklater as his sister Samantha, BOYHOOD charts the rocky terrain of childhood like no other film has before.

Definitely the most overrated film of 2014, Boyhood features bland acting from its main star and a protagonist who makes Anne from The Arrested Development far more interesting in comparison. Despite the admirable efforts of the supporting cast and the more interesting characters they played, the film is unfortunately overshadowed by the painfully boring tale of a whiny hipster, who, despite having grown up amid questionable father figures and an ambitious mother, has no character whatsoever.

People think this movie is so unique because it took so many years to film, but its extremely boring with unconvincing acting. The movie had great potential if it were scripted and capable actors were hired. Events just keep happening but no character development. The main character looks like he's on heroine the whole movie and reacts to every situation exactly the same way. Terrible and extremely overrated movie

This movie isn't dramatic or action filled or about supernatural things. It's just life. Somehow watching this made me feel lighter and happy. It's a feel good movie I guess. You watch a family go through life. It's unique. Everything lately is dystopian themed or about space exploration (which are awesome) but this movie stands out and will stand out for a long time. It's a good movie because it makes you appreciate what you have.
