About this movie

From executive producer Tony Bill (The Sting, Taxi Driver) comes a gritty and groundbreaking look at Los Angeles gang life in the city's Mexican-American barrios, a powerful forerunner to such later movies as Colors and Menace II Society. Raymond Avila (Richard Yñiguez) is an ex-gang member trying to build a future. Kid brother Chuco (Danny De La Paz) is a sullen low-rider still caught up in the life. Despite their differences, their family bond is strong. But that bond is violently tested when rivals challenge Chuco's gang -- and ignite a neighborhood war. Experience a movie judged "honest, authentic, dramatic and effective" by the Los Angeles Times' Charles Champlin. Hit this Boulevard.

A gritty and real tale of two brothers who are the complete opposite of each other. The older brother Raymond is a responsible adult who works hard and plans on getting married to his beloved girlfriend. On the other hand we have Chuco, the teenaged younger brother who has dropped out of school, is irresponsible, and is constantly getting in trouble mostly due to his gang affliation. The movie mostly involves Raymond attempting to get his brother out of the gang before it's too late.

Danny De La Paz deserves an Academy Award for his iconic performance in this film. It still resonates today, some four decades after it's release in 1979.
