About this movie

Poignant, romantic, and mesmerizing, writer/director Woody Allen's latest masterpiece centers around Jasmine (Cate Blanchett), a former New York socialite teetering on an emotional tightrope, balancing between her troubled east coast past and a fresh start in San Francisco. Having moved into her sister's humble apartment, Jasmine ricochets between the tumultuous acceptance of her new limitations, and the dreams of reclaiming her past life's glamour. Join a powerful cast including Alec Baldwin, Sally Hawkins, Louis C.K., and Peter Saarsgard for an intimate portrayal of the battle between fantasy and reality which wages within us all.

Kate and Alec are fantastic. Thought it was going to be another Madoff movie.. You tumble along with Jasmine and witness life truths. It's all about surviving and coping and human feelings, that Woody is superb at analyzing, dissecting and displaying onscreen. Betrayal, lies, honesty and some of the best Zanax lines ever. Cate Blanchet throws herself into it, and leaves you wondering way after the end appears. Another gem from Woody added to my favs: Bullets Over Broadway, Hannah & Her Sisters, & Annie Hall.

Blue Jasmine....and yes, fresh lavender, waft in the air around me as I am finally blanketed by its combined effects and I can no longer deny it as its omnipresent gift of aromatherapy has slapped me into sleep city. Boo Hoo, I didnt see the end of Blue Jasmine. So much pity and petty interactions chopped up in short acts draining away the what I think would be the 'intended' feeling that the watcher should gain. Instead I felt like Jasmine: I was though not Blue. I was Red with the buck 20 Redbox took in exchange for passing out such boring titles to me in its already limited robotic belly's supply. Blue Jasmine- Perfection reached with the name of the Title. Everything thing else after went static after just minutes into the act. FACT: Laboratory tests found the fragrance and its chemical substitute dramatically calmed mice when their cage was filled with it, causing them to cease all activity and sit quietly in a corner.

Geez i hope that the emphatic "woody" doesn't actually disuade people from viewing this! To me, and biased or not, i do give stars objectively so please take this in account (as well as my 4 star film criteria is reasonably high) when you chose to give this a go! And please do! For it is a very very witty and quite solid film in general. Im being vague purposely... I want you guys to take my word for it, go into it with whatever expectations you may and ENJOY! ~as always :) jeff 'Lovits' ~
