The characters are awkward and unlikable and the opening is a clunky grating explanation of the Cate Blanchetts predicament infact that's all it seems to be for the first twenty minutes. Maybe it gets better I don't know and never will because there are better things to do and spend your money on, things that might make you or someone else happy, there are funny videos of dogs on youtube and they're free and the dogs can brown tongue themselves.

Kate Blanchett shines as a fickle, fragile and egocentric socialite blind to the feelings of those around her. The promise she showed in Notes on a Scandal is back and then some. Woody Allen's films can sometimes get bogged down in their own complexity but here he handles things very well indeed. The style reminded me of a lavish Mike Leigh - with a strong feeling of improvisation and class conflict. Definitely worth a watch.

Love Cate Blanchett and the premise of this film but I found it so stressful to watch. Just so stressful bleak and depressing... But this is the nature of the story. I wanted to see how it ended, it was wonderfully acted and I feel like my reaction to it is the intended one... But strangely... Would I like to watch it again? No
