It seems to be a common trait for a lot of superhero films to peak in the second outing and then flounder by the third. Blade is no exception. Starting with a serviceable but dated first film, then followed by a superior sequel by visionary Del Toro, the series falls flat by the third. This film introduces gimmicky characters that were never in the comic series like "girl-who-needs-apple-product-placement-to-fight", "african-american-chauffer" and "blind-woman-for-the-sake-of-diversity" and then gets Ryan Reynolds to do his whole wooden "I-think-I'm-bloody-hilarious... too-bad-I'm-actually-not" routine. Then you add Wesley Snipes who obviously doesn't want to be there and resents everyone else for taking his limelight and you have yourself one painful looking film.
