About this movie

In 1970s South Boston, FBI Agent John Connolly (Joel Edgerton) persuades Irish mobster James “Whitey” Bulger (Johnny Depp) to collaborate with the FBI and eliminate a common enemy: the Italian mob. The drama tells the true story of this unholy alliance, which spiraled out of control, allowing Whitey to evade law enforcement, consolidate power, and become one of the most ruthless and powerful gangsters in Boston history.

A fantastic look into the lives of boston FBI and criminal empires, working together to bend the laws for both, with personal benefits that made history. A good watch and a brief view of corruption in a criminal world, johnny depp portrays his character and again shows he's one of the best among another star filled cast. Would definitely recommend to any crime film fan to watch and make up your own decision, for me a strong 4 ! ! Thanks

Not funny or interesting or exciting or anything. Shit just HAPPENS, in a way that's utterly lacking in style or direction or any inkling of entertainment value. Shit just happens. You watch shit happen for two hours.

Fairly remorseless portrait of a clear psychopath; good performances from all the actors, including Depp (if you take James Bulger essentially to be an inhuman maniac). Joel Edgerton and Rory Cochrane as John Connolly and Stephen Flemmi are very good; in fact, Connolly's story is probably the most interesting, real depth in the characterization there.
