I wanted to give it one star but Google said it pretty much means you hated the film (I would consider that no stars) but taking this into account I rated two; I didn't HATE the film, but I didn't like it either, neither could I justify the "it's okay" three stars as I have no intention of watching it again. Honestly I thought I'd like the film, the idea interested me, for an actor to go to the brink of insanity because of a character is actually a good idea for a film! However, honestly, it was… Boring.

This is a really terrible movie. I am not surprised that critics and actors like it because that's the target audience, trying to impress upon the viewer the importance of stage acting vs screen acting and how pivotal the role of the critic is in the success of a play. Awful doesn't even come close to this claptrap pretentious self-aggrandising pile of crap. The makers clearly knew is was rubbish which is why they had to layer in all this fantasy that, although it looks good, adds nothing to the story. Avoid.

Great performances by all the cast but the story is quite unusual at times which adds to the quirkiness of it all. At its core it's about an actor tired of the Hollywood lifestyle trying to do something with a bit more substance but through the movie it's much more than just that. (To those that rated this 1 star not all movies are made for everyone. If you didn't understand it that's not the movies fault)
