SKYLINE: BIGGER and BADDER-ER... ...but NOT necessarily better. SHORT TAKE: The original had a story with heart and a strong emotional framework. This one had NONE of that but substituted slick VFX and a lot of activity and gunfire and explosions. In the end, it was, borrowing another reviewer's words, "dull and silly beyond words". LONG TAKE: Between the original SKYLINE movie and this movie, visual effects have evolved and the price per minute has dropped. Couple that with possibly an equal or slightly larger production budget and C or D grade cast and you get a movie which looks GREAT in trailer form but which falls apart in the details in long form. Where Beyond Skyline TRULY dies, however, is the story. I NEVER would have thought this going in but, the STORY here is in NO way shape or form better than or even equal to the original Skyline. Beyond Skyline completely lacks the atmosphere, the emotional framework and the intrinsic complexity of the original and did not feel at all worthy of the set-up at the end of the first movie. It barely even feels related to the original story most of the time. I never felt invested in anything that was happening and never cared about ANY of the characters until the two main characters from the original movie, Jarrod and Elaine, showed up. I was elated to see them (though Elaine had been replaced by another actress) and thought that the movie might finally get interesting but, to my dismay and indescribably deep disappointment, the two returning characters were conveniently and unceremoniously dispatched within minutes of their initial appearance. All of that said, if you like a glut of slick practical and green screen CG effects and a whole lot of motion, fisticuffs, shooting and 'splosions, Beyond Skyline is a veritable buffet! Much like a buffet, however, it is unquestionably QUANTITY far and away above QUALITY.

The missile used to blow the ship when they are in the train tunnel... was copied from the original version of this movie, copying scenes from another movie is not acceptable, it puts off viewers and frankly loses interest. You lost my interest on any upcoming sequels (if any). Luckily for me I had a coupon which let me rent for 99p so all in all I guess I am lucky. Avoid this title, its not worth watching scenes that were copied from the same movie named "Skyline".

Actually was surprised that this movie was good. Never heard advertising for it any where & saw it in Play Store so I have it a go. For a sequel, way better than thought. Tide nicely w/ 1st movie, glad they did that, & even got to see how 1st movie "hero" finished, etc...(Not saying much cuz of SPOILERS). If a sci-fi person who likes these movies you'll like/enjoy this movie as well, Effects were good cuz not all cgi, but actually people! Love when this happens as makes characters lot more real in every way. Actually had descent plot & we weren't let down w/ open ended ending, which always leaves a person w/ WAY more questions than answers. Wouldn't necessarily say this is a B-movie, even though technically is, cuz it's better than that; but, it's also not a blockbuster movie either. Go ahead, take a chance, sit back, turn brain off & have fun w/ this Good sequel from Skyline franchise. My Score: solid 4/5
