I'm actually "late to the party" on this, as I only found it in late 2017.
At the time I was a HUGE fan of Colin Firth and trying to see nearly every
movie he'd made. Nicole Kidman is okay, but I do enjoy watching them
together. I haven't read the book this was based on and yes, as others have
said, it's repetitive and was perhaps done better previously. But to its
credit I've viewed it at least 10 times mainly to see Firth, who normally
plays more benign roles. To see him escalate from a calm and caring
"spouse" into a vicious, full-blown monster is quite entertaining! It's not
a horror movie, but more of the suspense variety, but by the time they'd
arrived at the hotel I was truly scared for Kidman's character.

Yeah there are repeats in the story world because there is only one original story that everyone is building off of but this was a great movie that really messed me up. Nicole Kidman is amazing as always. I believed that the plot sort of sped up and moved too fast and could be slowed down and I bet the book would be amazing. If it's not for you it's not for you but I fell in love with this movie.

I was surprised how much I enjoyed this film. Lots of twists and turns kind of like being on a roller coaster which kept me on the edge of my seat. Kidman and Firth were excellent as were the supporting actors. You don't see films of this caliber often that's why I would definitely recommend this film as it is well worth it.
