About this movie

A hard-hitting, realistic drama of Marine Corps heroism in the Pacific theater of WWII. Director Raoul Walsh ("The Naked And The Dead") captures war in all its aspects, from basic training to the ultimate test of battle. He also portrays the other side of war exploring the stories of the women who remain behind, waiting for their men to return. Based on the novel by Leon Uris ("Exodus").

I like, "Battlecry," it's very broad, but truth be known, over my three years in the service, I did indeed run across guy's pretty similar to the guys in this movie. I was in the service (1980-83.) This film was released in the mid-50's, & the story takes place in the early 1940's. Service life is probably pretty similar today. This ain't, "Wuthering Height's," or, "MacBeth," but for what it is, ( a panavision, military/soap-Opera.) It moves well, with a little wiggle in it's step.
