About this movie

From director Zack Snyder comes "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice," starring Ben Affleck as Batman/Bruce Wayne and Henry Cavill as Superman/Clark Kent in the characters' first big-screen pairing. Fearing the actions of a god-like Super Hero left unchecked, Gotham City's own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis's most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it's ever known before.

Batman becomes a traumatized psychopath, Wonder Woman has a meaningless cameo, Lex becomes a disturbed teen with daddy issues and Clark shows how truly selfish and stupid he is in BvS: Dawn of a Cash-In. You have to wonder if the writers and directors ever researched these characters or understood how to develop them. A prime example is Bruce who is depicted as a man so traumatized by the death of his parents that he sees only the worst in Superman. This really is the opposite of the core to what drives Batman in all of the comics that is why him and the Joker are absolute opposites. Worst still, the writers threw away two key facts about Batman. 1. He despises guns and 2. he doesn't kill people. In BvS he guns people down and murders them without a second thought. For people unfamiliar with the DC characters and universe then all of the short-comings of the movie won't be noticed because it comes down to basically a long drawn out deathmatch with some storyline. Sony clearly wants to jump in the super-hero band wagon due to the success of Marvel, but doesn't want to make the same effort in their movies.

Not the battle of wills and beliefs on how to uphold justice by two icons as it should have been. The moral arguments are more or less nonexistent as to why they protect people the way that they do, so its hard to root for one character over the other until one of them is coerced into facing the other in a death match before the inevitable team-up. Wonder Woman is just there to look cool and not the strong female character we hoped for. The fan service setting up JUSTICE LEAGUE wasn't needed. Still I liked it, the story was fine and served it's purpose with great action to go with it and cool villains though Doomsday's origin is maybe questionable to say the least. The final shot of the movie is groan worthy but the ending is ballsy to say the least. And no, this is not the MAN OF STEEL sequel, this is a BATMAN movie all the way with Ben Affleck hogging the screen time.

The plot is backwards and cartoonish. Superman is represented poorly. Lex Luthor is nothing but a Saturday morning cartoon villain and his plan, as well as his motive, doesn't make sense. Wonder Woman is thrown in just for fan service. And the film jams in so many characters and DC references and easter eggs; in a vain attempt to get the DC Universe movie building out more faster than Marvel did. Ben Affleck is awesome as Batman in the film, despite his character's psychopathic and murderous attributes.
