About this movie

George Clooney stars as the mysterious caped crusader in this fourth installment of the blockbuster "Batman" saga. This time he's up against the cold-blooded Mr. Freeze (Arnold Schwarzenegger) who has joined forces with femme fatale Poison Ivy (Academy Award-nominee and Golden Globe-winner Uma Thurman -- "Kill Bill" vols. 1 & 2, "The Producers") to wage a deadly crime spree against the citizens of Gotham City. Armed with a new array of high-tech crime-fighting gear, Batman enlists the help of his daredevil partner, Robin (Golden Globe-nominee Chris O'Donnell -- "Scent of a Woman," "Batman Forever"), and their new secret weapon, Batgirl (Golden Globe-nominee Alicia Silverstone -- "Clueless," "Blast From the Past"). It's an action-packed thrill ride as the forces of good and evil clash in the most spectacular Batman ever produced. Also featuring Vivica Fox and supermodels Vendela and Elle MacPherson. Directed by Joel Schumacher ("The Phantom of the Opera," "Phone Booth"). MPAA Rating: PG-13 Strong stylized action and some innuendos (c) 1997 DC Comics Inc. All Rights Reserved

Man this film could have been so epic! The studio interference messed it up big time. So many costume changes and silly tacked on characters. Bane sucks, the final act could have been better. Some really silly decisions. Scene highlights for me are the illegal bike race. And the statue finger jump scene, when Batman disables the Redbird and Robin gets pissed. I still watch it every now and then for kicks. George Clooney got really wasted as bats. He had the chin and charisma as a veteran bats.

It's the worst Batman movie ever. Would've made a good parody or throwback to the 60's Batman but it's not. It's a sequel to the Tim Burton movies and the Schumacher movie. Almost every line in this movie is some kind of over-the-top pun and it all sounds so forced. The plot is full of convenience. Not to mention that the nipples added to the Batsuit in Batman Forever are now 10x more noticeable this time! The villains have been butchered as well, mainly Mr Freeze who was reinvented as a tragic antihero in Batman TAS, this just spits allover that. Uma Thermon plays a very forced poison Ivy...and Bane? What's that all about? That's just murder. This movie killed the Batman movies until 2005 when they were rebooted by Christopher Nolan which started well and ended horribly.

I enjoyed this film because It was what I thought it would be walking into it, a pure camp fest. This film feels like a big budget Adam West batman film that has an equally campy cast such as George Clooney as the bat-nippled caped crusader, Chris o' Donnall as an all grown up Robin, Alicia Silverstone as bat girl, Uma thurman as a corny poison ivy and Arnold Schwarzenegger as an ice-pun spuing mister freeze and I really enjoyed the new more light hearted take on gotham city. DEFINITELY RECOMMEND (to the fans of the Adam West batman TV show/movie)
