About this movie

By all appearances, new parents Mac (Seth Rogen) and Kelly Radner (Rose Byrne) are living the American Dream -- complete with an adorable baby girl and a beautiful new starter home in the suburbs. Still, the early-thirtysomethings want to believe that they have a modicum of coolness left within them. So when they discover that their new next-door neighbors are none other than dozens of Delta Psi Beta fraternity brothers led by charismatic president Teddy Sanders (Zac Efron), they try to play along and make the best of an awkward situation. But when the frat's parties grow increasingly more epic, both sides of the property line begin to fend for their turf. The neighbours' relentless sabotage escalates into outrageous one-upmanship, beginning an epic Greek war for the ages. Also stars Dave Franco and Christopher Mintz-Plasse. Oh my word, this is eating cold junk food sober. A kids movie plot sprinkled with swear words and contrived shocks for teens. Top Gun is more openly heterosexual. It even has an extended peekaboo scene for those struggling with the reading level. Is nostalgic in the sense of trying to remember a funny Seth Rogan film. There is plenty of thinking time to realise he has just ambled on as himself in absolutely everything.

I liked it. It didn't make me laugh as much as a thought it would but I love Seth Rogan and Zac Efron so I like that they were in it. All the funny bits were in the trailer but still made a giggle at times... Am giving 3 stars as it was a good film but I think there was space for much more comedy, it just wasn't funny enough for a 5 star rating 😊

It's a shame really. The storyline had a lot of promise. Rose Byrne and Zac Efron should have been great. Unfortunately, apart from a couple of funny lines, the humour felt forced and the acting was wooden. I never expect Seth Roger to be good so at least there were no surprises on that front.
