About this movie

This daring, poetic and grand-scale film by master filmmaker Jia Zhang-Ke was inspired by shocking and true events that forced the world's fastest growing economy into a period of self-examination. An angry miner, enraged by widespread corruption in his village, decides to take justice into his own hands. A rootless migrant discovers the infinite possibilities of owning a firearm. A young receptionist is pushed beyond her limits by an abusive client. And a young factory worker goes from one discouraging job to the next, only to face increasingly degrading circumstances.

This movie is blocked in China so I come here to watch it. The storyline is based on true stories. As a Chinese I can feel them when struggle fury hopelessness ruthlessness happen to the grassroots.

Director Jia has a deep insight on what's happening everyday in the marginal poor people who are struggling their living in the modernizing society of China. The truth can't be covered but they're calling for more attention from conscious people like Mr. Jia, use the media tools they're familiar with, to make changes happen.

Fantastic movie. I don't want to spoil it, so I'll just say it reminded me of Cloud Atlas a bit.
