It is easy to believe this spiritual cat came to save the lost life of a man. I liked the cat, liked the music, sometimes, and enjoyed the film. Luke Treadway played the part well, and kudos to the direction of making this seem real.

Great adaptation of the book. It does take some dramatic license in the telling of James Bowen and Bob's story, adding characters not mentioned in the books or combining multiple people into a single character, it stays true to the heartfelt love and trust between a man and a cat. James makes a cameo at the end (keep an eye out for that) and Bob portrays himself for a significant portion of the film. Luke Treadaway was extremely well cast, he has the presence and the singing voice to carry the part and his interactions with his feline costar(s) put the old adage of never work with kids or animals to shame. I'd recommend this to anyone who loves the books, to anyone who is a fan of the myriad of cat videos online and to anyone who is a fan of Roger Spottiswoode as his direction feels quite natural and the emotional moments don't feel forced.
