Personally, I did enjoy the film. The animation appeared to be effortless; the main character was relatable and it was an unique take on the romance genre that battles bullying; disability - in particular, being deaf in a modern society - and restarting friendships. The CONCEPT of the film is impeccable! I would recommend anyone to watch it however, I would also say before doing so, to not expect itself to BE impeccable (mostly due to the way it has been edited). Reading the majority of the manga, it is evident they have rearranged some aspects of the story's order - for better and for worst. Additionally, there is one character - who is on the far right of the film cover - who has no purpose. The film would have been exactly the same in my opinion without him. He, in no way, helps develop the plot. It also lightly touches on some aspects that could have been expanded e.g. transgender, isolation and the relation between some characters in particular. Overall, it is a pleasing film for anyone who appreciates modern animated cinema. It is captivating but at times it is also lacking its potential. Definitely a strong 3/5 for me.

This movie is based off the manga with the same name. I recommend reading the manga before watching this as some parts have been cut. Having said that, the movie still manged to capture the essence that makes A Silent Voice so great - the reconciliation of the characters, and the well researched portrayal of people who are deaf and with depression. The wonderful music, vibrant animation, voice acting makes this a must watch

It is a gorgeous film that perfectly depicts living with social anxiety along with a cast of well thought out characters that you never really forget. If you watched it without any audio or subtitles it would still be good as just the visuals alone are stunning, let alone the storyline, voice acting and script. It is my favourite film of all time and I highly recommend it!
