A Silent Voice

I have watched the movie before with English subtitles and loved it. Looked forward to sharing with my daughter to discover Google has dubbed to English. Could live with that except this is a story about a girl who is deaf. She communicates through writing in her notebook (in Japanese) and sign language and this copy has no subtitles to translate what is being said for either. Ruined it. Had to stop watching and will request refund.

This film is a masterpiece. But there were no subtitles for the Japanese text. I don't know how they could expect someone watching an English dub to be able to read Japanese. The text displayed on the screen is very important to the plot. Maybe I just couldn't figure out how to turn them on because I've seen lots of people give five star reviews. If this issue could be fixed i would give this film. If anyone reading this knows how to give the Japanese text English subtitles or if it has been updated please let me know and I will change my review.

I'm sure the movie is great but this version of it would have ruined it for me. Not having the Japanese text translated which appeared to be a main characters main form of communication is a major oversight. Didn't want to go any further so i can watch the movie in a much less frustrating version. Basically a waste of money buying it here. Save yourself some money and find it elsewhere in subbed version.
