About this movie

Marina and Orlando are in love and planning their future, when one night Orlando suddenly falls ill and passes away. Instead of being able to mourn her lover, Marina is treated with suspicion by authorities and with disdain by his family. She is forbidden to attend his funeral and thrown out of the apartment they shared. Marina is a trans woman and for most of Orlando’s family, her sexual identity is a perversion. So she must battle the very same forces that she has spent a lifetime fighting just to become the woman she is now – a complex, strong, forthright and fantastic.

OK.. I have watched the movie A Fantastic Woman. Good, yes, its stands for trans rights. It show clearly how many men, be that straight, or gay leave their trans, gay or straight partners dis-empowered financially in relationships. They hold the money, they hold the power. What Sh*ts. They want a partner to play to their wims, but these OLDER men as it often is, think little of their partners as they pass. Even the final kiss shows this in that movie.. It shows HE had all the power and she was a pawn. It succeeds in showing how trans people are often violated by the system, and bigots in society. One wonders if the makers had more money and time where that may have led. But in the time frames of a movie, I guess it works.

A Fantastic Woman is a fantastic portrait of grief, discrimination, and identity. Regardless of your personal politics, you owe to yourself to watch this powerful film.

Not the best tranny movie I've seen, could have been a little more camp for my style.
