Spellbinding special effects, a star-studded cast and a timeless holiday story make this brilliant presentation of Dickens' classic the most heartwarming, compelling and powerful adaptation ever filmed. This version of A Christmas Carol is among the best, save the final ghost which is artificial looking and hardly intimidating or daunting. But Patrick Stewart is excellence personified. The only issue I have with his performance is the laugh at the end, in which it appears to be an acting 'thing' that was contrived, rather than a natural response to the joy of having the time before him to make amends in. Otherwise, Sir Pat is spot on and delightful. The rest of the lesser known cast are superb, and humbly serve the moment for the lead.

One of the best tellings of a timeless story, and Sir Patrick Stewart nails it from start to end. So happy to have it on digial forever. I only wish it would get a HD cut instead just SD olny. P.S. He once used to do and entire one man play of A Christmas Carol on stage, some behined the secens for for y'all why he's so good is this movie.

Every single year, since 1990 or earlier, I've been watching the version with Alastair Sim (1951.) It is so well done and ALWAYS puts me in the Christmas spirit. I was excited to see this version with Patrick Stewart, but I am sorry to report, I was disappointed. I'm sticking with Alastair Sim.
