About this movie

The ultimate Christmas Classic. A CHARLIE BROWN CHRISTMAS is here including 2 newly remastered specials: IT'S CHRISTMAS TIME AGAIN, CHARLIE BROWN; and IT'S FLASHBEAGLE, CHARLIE BROWN. Happiness and cheer. And for Peanuts fans everywhere, it just wouldn’t be Christmas without this classic holiday delight. Christmas lights may be twinkling red and green, but Charlie Brown has the Yuletide blues. To get in the holiday spirit, he takes Lucy’s advice and directs the Christmas play. And what’s a Christmas play without a Christmas tree? But everyone makes fun of the short, spindly nevergreen Charlie Brown brings back – until the real meaning of Christmas works its magic once again in this Remastered Deluxe Edition. Also includes the bonus featurette, A CHRISTMAS MIRACLE: THE MAKING OF A CHARLIE BROWN CHRISTMAS.

This special is the greatest of the American animated Christmas specials. For all the apparently crudity of the animation, there is a profound emotional heart to the story guarenteed to touch your soul as you watch Charlie Brown struggle to find a deeper meaning to the holiday. To that end, Linus' recitation of the biblical story of the shepherds is absolutely reviting in it's simple power. Combine that with Vince Guaraladi's musical genius and you have a special that turned out to be so much more than what the producers ever dreamed possible. Finally, a major reason for this story's staying power is in part that it ends with Charlie Brown being happy. That is the final Christmas treat of this masterwork that will seal the deal with you.

Personally, out of the movies in this collection I enjoy "It's Flashbeagle, Charlie Brown" the most, but you're probably getting this for "A Charlie Brown Christmas" so let's talk about that. So Charlie Brown thinks everyone should celebrate the holidays his way and is depressed that others don't. The theme of the movie is that Christmas is too commercialized and then the real reason is revealed to be Jesus's birth bringing peace to the world so they decorate a Christmas tree and sing...?
