This movie has no idea what it wants to be. It starts like the Japanese version of a medieval fantasy with knights and dragons and such, then it turns into a historical drama, then it is an action-adventure, then its fantasy again. The acting was bad, the story was bad, even the bad guys were bad. There really isn't anything redeemable about this movie except for the castle attack scene at the end (not the main heroes vs main villains showdown. The overall attack.)

It includes a sexual assault scene early in the film that, while pivotal to the storyline, is tastelessly executed and terrifying for past victims. It could have been handled differently and been even more impactful. Aside from that the film is okay... I recommend renting if you want to see it because it's not good enough to waste money on.

This kind of movie has been done over n over again. Acting was bad (of course). The actual ronin seemed non existent. The movies called 47 ronin. But they made the story about how Keanu Reeves was gonna save his love interest from the clutches of evil. Just pathetic. Anyway, if u skip this film your not missing anything. Trust me
