About this movie

Based on Frank Miller's graphic novel Xerxes, and told in the breathtaking visual style of the blockbuster "300," this new chapter of the epic saga takes the action to a fresh battlefield - on the sea - as Greek general Themistokles attempts to unite all of Greece by leading the charge that will change the course of the war.

"300: Rise of an Empire" pits Themistokles against the massive invading Persian forces led by mortal-turned-god Xerxes, and Artemisia, vengeful commander of the Persian navy.

While no one can deny what the Persian empire gave the world. . I think one of the main points of the film is slavery, which the Persians had in millions . Is it not the point of both films . The difference between a man who fights out of his own free will.. and the man who fights because he's told to

Hints and scenes of the first 300 film, Lots of blood which is clearly CGI, Film just a grab at making more money of the first one, there is no real story behind, I was expecting something like the first but it's not, The best bit for me was seeing the Spartans arrive to once again, save the day

After being slated by the critics I wasn't expecting much from this film, but I was pleasantly surprised. It doesn't have the impact that the original had and misses a leading actor with Gerard Butler's presence, but it is visually amazing (especially in 3D) and entertaining. It makes a change from PG rated films that make up the vast majority of blockbusters these days.
