About this movie

“12 Strong” is set in the harrowing days following 9/11 when a U.S. Special Forces team, led by their new Captain, Mitch Nelson (Hemsworth), is chosen to be the first U.S. troops sent into Afghanistan for an extremely dangerous mission. There, in the rugged mountains, they must convince Northern Alliance General Dostum (Navid Negahban) to join forces with them to fight their common adversary: the Taliban and their Al Qaeda allies. In addition to overcoming mutual distrust and a vast cultural divide, the Americans—accustomed to state-of-the-art warfare—must adopt the rudimentary tactics of the Afghan horse soldiers. But despite their uneasy bond, the new allies face overwhelming odds: outnumbered and outgunned by a ruthless enemy that does not take prisoners.

Implausible, badly developped characters, bad acting and based on a parallel reality propaganda world. It depicts the worst of humanity as if it would be heroic. I want to see real, true stories about relatively current conflicts in the world. Why not showing stories that are truly happening right now in Syria. Now that's a thriller, but no heroes on the US side as there weren't really any heroes in Afghanistan.

Shows the true face of war, the brotherhood of soldiers, the harsh realities of the Frontline, and the beurocratic garbage that our troops and allies had to push thru. If you ever truly wanted to understand the war on terror, this explains it very well without a biased view in either direction. I would say this is modern wars Mell Gibson's We Were Soldiers

Truly inspiring, I joined the Army after 9/11. I was very young but always patriotic and proud to grow up in a great country full of the human spirit. I cried like a child when I was in trade school, doing carpentry, me and this beautiful blonde I had a huge crush on. She was so gorgeous and sweet, we were building a cabinet together when my teacher came in the shop yelling for us to come see the news. I walked in the classroom and prolly 2 mins later the 2nd plane hit and my heart broke.
