About this movie

12 MIGHTY ORPHANS tells the true story of the Mighty Mites, the football team of a Fort Worth orphanage who, during the Great Depression, went from playing without shoes—or even a football—to playing for the Texas state championships. Over the course of their winning season these underdogs and their resilient spirit became an inspiration to their city, state, and an entire nation in need of a rebound, even catching the attention of President Franklin D. Roosevelt. The architect of their success was Rusty Russell, a legendary high school coach who shocked his colleagues by giving up a privileged position so he could teach and coach at an orphanage. Few knew Rusty's secret: that he himself was an orphan. Recognizing that his scrawny players couldn't beat the other teams with brawn, Rusty developed innovative strategies that would come to define modern football.

This is a feel good movie, a movie that ups your spirit and inspires you never to give up in tough and dejected times. This is probably a story that most people haven't heard of and the fact that it brought hope to a nation during the great depression.... I'm very glad it's now on big screen. Great direction of wonderful characters most of which I've never seen and I really admired their performances in this movie. This is a must watch movie to appreciate.

I thought they wern't making movies like this anymore! One of the best movies I've seen in a long time; how one man's determination and dedication affected, not just 12 boys, but the entire world. if you see the real outcomes (not the actors) of these people, at the conclusion of the film, it's amazing! Good triumphing over evil...loved it!

This was a must see movie It was the best feel good movie of 2021. I think Luke Wilson and Martin Sheen as well as others get a superb job and should win an Academy award. Hi family and I all loved this movie. My daughter and I had happy tears. It was very inspirational and I loved the period piece and that it was based on the true story.
