SAS: Who Dares Wins

In the first episode the 30 recruits arrive at the isolated barracks in Wales and are introduced to the directing staff (DS) Foxy, Ollie and Colin, all operating under the watchful eye of Chief Instructor Ant. This is an elite team: four ex-Special Forces men with years of military and Special Forces experience, including dozens of tours of Afghanistan, Northern Ireland, Iraq and Sierra Leone. They have all experienced, at first hand, the strength, mental resilience and raw determination needed to pass Selection.

In the second episode, following a brutal first stage, just 20 of the original 30 recruits remain. At the isolated barracks in Wales the Directing Staff will now take the intensity up a gear, applying pressure to isolate and expose individuals they think are weak. The recruits are woken with their first test. They are each instructed by the DS to choose the recruit who they believe to be the weakest amongst them. Recruits Mark and Phil receive the most votes.

Episode 3 will capture day five of the selection course – a 24-hour period in which the DS will focus on the recruit’s FEAR. Now that they’re down to the men they rate, the DS start to use extreme tactics reveal who really has the potential to make it through to the final phase of selection.

They now have to whittle down the group again, to the 6 recruits they think may have what it takes to complete the final stage of the course - a punishing 72-hour cat and mouse chase across challenging terrain, before facing the most gruelling part of the selection process: Interrogation.

The remaining recruits enter the final stage of the selection and have to endure 24 hours of intense questioning without losing composure or revealing details of their mission. Between interrogations, they are locked in a cell and hooded in stress positions and are subjected to repetitive music at random intervals to maintain a state of severe fatigue. Less than 10 per cent of candidates make it through process in the real world, will any of the civilians make it to the end and prove they have the characteristics needed to be in the special forces?

The recruits face a terrifying bridge leap before they can find their base. The jungle environment, altitude and insects take their toll, and the DS give special attention to two volatile individuals.
