Stan is scheduled on to a new early morning service. The routine of the household and the bus company is somewhat disrupted. Also there's mayhem at the bus depot when the men go on strike because of a sandwich.

Iris is a new recruit on the buses and she's not really up to her job as a conductress. Reg covers for her because of her looks. Further embarrassment is caused when Stan turns down his mother and a trip to bingo, for a date with Iris.

The Inspector tells all the drivers that they must undergo a medical examination. Due to a bad stomach-ache, Stan is begrudgingly told to change his unhealthy diet.

The Drivers are not happy with the food served at the depot canteen. They take matters into their own hands by running it themselves.

The Inspector insists that busmen learn First Aid and take a proficiency exam. Enlisting the help of his mum and brother-in-law, Stan scrapes through the test with his conductor Jack. But en-route to the Cemetery Gates how will they cope with a real emergency?

The water closet in the smallest room of the Butler household is possibly the noisiest in London. Its nocturnal gurgling and clanging wakes even the most determined sleeper and disturbs the whole neighbourhood. Stan decides to fix it and the fun really starts when he has to assume the role of a do-it-yourself plumber.

A pretty new girl starts at the depot and catches the attention of all the men. However, she's keeping a secret and when the men find out what it is they might not be so keen.

When Jack persuades Stan to take up brewing beer at home the rest of the family shows little interest. Once the beer is flowing it has a romantic influence on Olive and Arthur, Mum starts to sway and Stan is drunk for work!

Every job has its perks and working on the buses is no exception. Arthur and Olive decide to redecorate their room and Stan offers to supply the paint. By a strange coincidence, it seems to match the colour of the buses exactly.

The Indian busmen hold a social evening at the depot canteen and the entertainment includes an attractive snake dancer - with an eight foot boa constrictor!

Mum gains a new man and her hem lines rapidly reduce, much to the horror of Stan and Arthur!

It's quicker by bus except when it's the No. 11 to the cemetery gates with Stan and his conductor Jack. The Inspector installs a two-way radio in their cab - should he believe all he hears?

Desperate measures are called for when the cost of living squeeze hits Stan's family. Stan investigates ways of increasing his income and decides to sell some of his assets to the Inspector.v

Edna the clippie has been thrown out of her house and Stan persuades his family to take her in as a lodger. But his intentions are not entirely honourable, as he hopes that it might bring them closer. Unfortunately for Stan, Edna also brings Coco - her Great Dane!

When driver Stan and his conductor Jack return to the depot after the late shift the pubs and parks are closed. So with nowhere to take their girls they may have to resort to behind, or on, the back seat of a bus. Will they elude the ever vigilant Inspector?

Blakey the Inspector and his mum are going on holiday. At the last moment, his mum rings the depot to say she can't find anyone to look after the dachshund and tropical fish. Unfortunately, Stan is nominated for the task.

With an epidemic raging down at the depot and half the crews off sick, Blakey has to put Stan and Jack on overtime. This is unexpectedly to their advantage as now they can entertain a few clippies in a style to which they are unaccustomed.

The annual Busmen's Ball comes round once again - and Arthur has decided that he and Olive will not be going. Or at least he had decided, but that was before he discovered what this year's cabaret is going to be.

Nothing like having a friend in the right place. Stan and Jack's friend is Suzy in the canteen. She's very good to the pair when serving their meals and charging for them! Naturally, this upsets the Inspector, who determines to beat Jack and Stan at their own game.

When the Luxton and District Traction Co. have their Christmas Club payout, Stan and the family decide to buy a colour television. There is a problem with the disposal of their old telly so they decide on an obvious victim - with disastrous results.

Inspector Blake decides to divide and rule by promoting Stan's pal Jack to the rank of inspector. Jack promises Stan extra overtime - for which he won't have to work - and a glamorous new clippie for his bus!

Arthur is attracted to Beryl, who is the clippie on his regular bus. Beryl has only two interests in life - men with a fondness for athletics and those with a good head of hair. The first Arthur can at least discuss on level terms, but how can he deal with the second?

It's Boxing Day and Stan and Arthur are waiting at the bus station to meet Arthur's mother and his sister Linda. Jack is the conductor on the bus they arrive on, and it seems that Linda rather fancies the dashing ticket puncher. When Jack suggests to Stan that Linda should be invited to the Boxing Day Social at the depot, Arthur maintains that his sister is above such entertainment!

The Inspector is nervous because a lighted cigarette has caused a fire in the paint shop. He decides to ban all smoking on duty and instructs his crew to attend a special course on fire-fighting. No prizes for guessing who gets his fingers burned!

Musing that it's a sorry state of affairs to have to go to work to get some peace and quiet, Stan decides to step in when Olive and Arthur's marriage seems to be on the rocks.

Stan is in an embarrassing position. On Friday he went to the dog track and lost a week's wages, now it's Saturday and Mum wants her housekeeping money! Faced with the double dilemma of paying Mum and Basher, Stan is ready to do almost anything for money!

Arthur and Olive are having another argument because Arthur has forgotten their wedding anniversary, This time it's all too much for Stan!

Stan is firm in his resolve to fight Blakey's latest outrageous instruction. It results in a head-on clash between Union and Management with Stan caught in the cross-fire.

Inspector Blakey has his medical, unaware that Stan and Jack are standing behind the screen. They overhear Blakey tell the doctor that his 'days are numbered' and they begin to fear the worst.

The series ends with the prize of a holiday for two, which Mum wins when she goes in for a raffle run by Inspector Blakey. The big question is should Stan, Olive or Arthur accompany her?
