Mike plays Cupid for Mandy by setting her up on a blind-date with Kyle, one of his employees who he thinks would be the perfect guy for her. But Mike's set-up gets off track when Kyle accidentally meets Kristin. Meanwhile at work, Mike's long-time boss and friend, Ed, announces that he's grounding Mike from their catalogue's international photo shoots and putting him in charge of the company's webpage. In this new role, Mike discovers that the Internet might actually provide him just the outlet he needs, a platform that gives him a voice to appeal to those who agree that manliness is under assault, and a pulpit for his opinions about feeling like the last real man in a woman's world.

Mike is outnumbered by his wife and daughters when they all agree that baby proofing the house is a good idea. But soon Vanessa has second thoughts when she finds herself home by herself babysitting Boyd and can't release the toilet seat's complicated childproof latch. Meanwhile, Mike thinks it's time for Mandy to earn her own money and gets her a job delivering pizzas -- without first consulting Vanessa.

When Vanessa forces a reluctant Mike to attend Grandparents Day at their grandson Boyd's preschool, Mike manages to insult the daycare teacher and Boyd gets kicked out of school. Boyd's mom, Kristin, tells Mike that he now has to look after him, so Mike takes the two-year-old to work with him. Meanwhile, after an elderly looking grandmother at the Grandparents Day event thinks she and Vanessa are the same age, Vanessa goes out of her way to look more youthful -- hoping no one sees her buying clothes from a boutique her 17-year-old daughter, Mandy, shops at.

Mike feels let down when his daughters aren't into celebrating Halloween with him the way they used to. He decides that his two-year-old grandson, Boyd, can be his perfect trick or treat partner. But Kristin, Boyd's mother, adamantly tells him that she doesn't want her son to go out on Halloween. Mike sneaks him out -- with a plan to get the child home before Kristin gets back from work. When Mike, dressed as John Wayne from "The Green Berets," gets to Ed's house with Boyd, they are greeted at the door by Ed's lady friend, Elvira (guest star Cassandra Peterson).

Mike must decide which way he will vote when the all-male Outdoor Man's softball team gets a mandate to allow females to play. Also, while helping a reluctant Mandy fill out college applications, Kristin makes some decisions about her own future. Mike hopes Mandy will go to his alma mater of Michigan State, but Vanessa wants her to attend her alma mater, the rival Ohio State.

When Mandy wants to enter a contest to be on a TV modeling show, Mike intends to give her his usual "yes" -- as he does with all of his daughters' requests -- knowing that Vanessa will tell her "no." But when Vanessa insists that Mike play the bad cop this time around, he has difficulty following through.

When a neighbor's home gets broken into, Mike thinks his fists and a cabinet full of rifles are enough to keep a home intruder at bay. But Vanessa thinks otherwise and rallies the neighbors to start a Neighborhood Watch program. While Mike patrols the block, he gets wrapped up in some neighborhood gossip which gets him into hot water.

After an innocent date with Kristin, Kyle accidentally falls asleep in her bedroom. When Mike discovers this, his instinct is to take action. He establishes a new and more hard-lined set of house rules that end up causing more friction than harmony between him and his three daughters.

Although Mike is thrown for a loop when he meets his new neighbors, a loving lesbian couple, he is impressed with the similar interests he shares with one of the women. Also, when Mandy catches her boyfriend in a lie, she enlists help from Kristin and Eve to make a revenge music video.

Mike's Christmas spirit gets dampened when Ryan (Nick Jonas, guest star), the father of Kristen's baby, unexpectedly comes back to town after a long absence. Kristin's boyfriend, Kyle, also doesn't know what to make of Ryan's return. Meanwhile, Ed hires Mandy as an elf at Outdoor Man, where she tries to unionize the other elves to get better perks.

Mike, amazed that Mandy might finally have found a passion for something, takes her under his wing at work when she offers to start an Internet campaign to keep Ed's favorite barber shop hangout from closing. Also, an exhausted Vanessa insists that she can still take care of the household despite her hectic work schedule, until she falls asleep during her own business presentation.

When a rising young star on the pro fishing circuit has dinner at the Baxters' and the conversation turns to traveling the world for work, Vanessa wonders if Mike is feeling tied down now that he spends more time at home. Meanwhile, Kristin and Eve think Mandy's decision to become a vegan is another one of her passing phases.

Mike is taken aback when he finds out that Ed -- who has been an absentee dad -- has hired his daughter, Gabriella (guest star Jamie-Lynn Sigler), to replace him as the new marketing consultant of Outdoor Man. When Ed agrees with Mike that her youth-oriented proposals to re-brand the retail stores aren’t the way to go, she plays the Daddy card for all its worth. Also, Mike and Eve bring home a stray dog that Mandy thinks she’s allergic to.

Vanessa blames Mike for their lack of party invitations, so he attempts to be friendlier and agrees to attend a neighbor's dinner party. Elsewhere, Eve damages Mandy's car while driving without a license.

When Vanessa gives Mike a history of their house for his birthday, they discover that a woman who once lived there over 100 years ago died upstairs. Now the family, especially Vanessa, suspects the mysterious things going on in the house are linked to the woman's ghost. Meanwhile, Ed claims to never have cash on him and keeps borrowing from the money-strapped Kyle.

When the overzealous Mandy gets the chance to meet her idol, Kim Kardashian, things don't go exactly as planned, but the outcome is better than she could have ever imagined. Meanwhile, Mike doesn't want "The Man" ordering him to cut down a damaged tree on his own property and rallies the family to protest down at City Hall.

When Mike gets 2011 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion Tony Stewart and his race car to jazz up the Outdoor Man retail space, Mike realizes more than ever how much he misses the adrenaline rush he used to get from his adventures on the road. Right before Tony shows up for the opening, Kyle finds a way to give Mike a taste of that excitement once again. Also, Kristin's desire to go skydiving gets Vanessa thinking how she used to take more chances before becoming a Mom.

Mike's father and brother arrive in town and want to bid on constructing a new Outdoor Man store, reigniting a sibling rivalry between the brothers. Meanwhile, the girls help their grandfather enter the world of online dating.

The Baxters are constantly awakened by an early morning prankster who rings their doorbell and then runs away. When Mike catches the teen-aged boy, the kid injures himself and now his litigious father expects Mike to pay the doctor bill. Also, single working mom Kristin starts college.

When Mandy’s new boyfriend, Terrence, turns out to be an animal rights activist, he clashes with Mike, who collects guns and hunts for sport. Meanwhile, Kyle discovers through an online site that, like Ed, he is Basque, and Ed embraces him as his “brother”.

After Mike and Ed invite Kyle to join the team for The Outdoor Man's annual sports competition, they have second thoughts, since his non-athletic ways might earn their team yet another loss. Meanwhile Vanessa tries to explain herself when she is overheard saying she didn't want to attend Eve's soccer game and Mandy's school play.

When Mike's dad, Bud (guest star Robert Forster), moves to town to be the builder on the new Outdoor Man store, Vanessa is concerned that some of Bud's well-intentioned ways might elevate Mike's high blood pressure.

When Mike realizes he unintentionally upstaged Vanessa's announcement about being nominated as the top volunteer school parent, his efforts to make it up to her might cause more harm than good. Meanwhile, Eve is afraid she won't fit in at high school; and Ed wants to release an Outdoor Man action figure inspired by Mike.

When Vanessa's sweet but flighty sister, April (guest star Christina Moore), comes to visit, Mike knows she's only coming to ask for yet another loan. Mike would rather use any extra money they have to buy a tank so that he and Ed can take it to a junkyard to run over old cars and boats. Meanwhile, when Kristen and Kyle decide to break up, Kyle is more concerned with what Mike will think.

Mike does all he can to persuade first-time voter Mandy to vote for Governor Romney in the upcoming presidential election. But when he lobbies her heavily, he finds himself going up against her older sister, Kristin, and Boyd's father, Ryan, who are just as enthusiastic for President Obama and disagree with Mike's trying to influence Mandy. While they all battle for Mandy's vote and soul, Vanessa remains neutral in the interest of family harmony.

When Boyd gets in trouble at school for playing dodgeball, which his fellow kindergarteners were banned from playing, Mike thinks this is another sign that parents are raising a generation of wimps. So unbeknownst to Kristin and Ryan and contrary to their values, Mike forms a secret afterschool dodegeball club for Boyd and the neighborhood kids.

When the African American neighbors' car is egged, Vanessa goes against Mike's advice and decides to let them know their car wasn't the only one vandalized. Meanwhile Eve wants to quit soccer, but when Mike and Vanessa won't let her, she rebels by getting drunk at a party.

Mike is shocked when he finds out Vanessa sided with Ed's ex-wife, Wanda, instead of with Ed after he divorced her -- twice. And when Ed tells Mike he thinks he and Wanda should get back together, Mike thinks it's a terrible idea. Meanwhile, single, working mom Kristin is reluctant to get the carefree Mandy a job at the diner to help her save money for a high school class trip.

After Vanessa's complex presentation to Eve's class on career day about her work for an oil company, the class quickly turns on Vanessa and accuses her of destroying Mother Earth. A mortified Eve demands her mom be more environmentally responsible by quitting her job. Mike believes Eve should apologize to her mother, but Eve refuses and goes to drastic lengths by camping in the backyard.

When Mike brings home a dead duck he shot for dinner, Kristin is horrified that he would expose young Boyd to the violence of death. Ryan, a vegan, for once agrees with Mike that Boyd should get used to the realities of life. But when Boyd stops eating meat, Mike tries to explain the circle of life to his grandson, with surprising results.

Vanessa, worn out from the recent Thanksgiving holiday, longs for the quiet, no-fuss Christmases when it was just her and Mike. Since he doesn't have a clue about what to get Vanessa for Christmas, he decides a family-free holiday is the perfect gift, and now must figure out a way to get Boyd and the girls away for the holidays. Meanwhile, Ed mistakenly shoots an American bald eagle instead of a turkey.

When Eve is suspended from school for calling a boy a bad name, Mike is surprised name calling would be considered bullying. Meanwhile Ryan finally gets a job, but when he buys a motorcycle, Kristin thinks he won't have extra money to help her and Boyd.

Tim Allen reunites with Richard Karn, his former sidekick from "Home Improvement." Bill McKenzie (Karn) has been the Outdoor Man's architect for years, which is why he is dumfounded when Mike tells him the job may now go to a young, gorgeous female architect. Back home, Vanessa wonders if looks trumped talent in her recent job promotion.

When Mike concedes to Vanessa to hire a housekeeper, the topic of immigration comes up, and Ed is asked to check the green cards of the Outdoor Man workers. Meanwhile, Kristin finds a creative way to make extra money.

When Mike hangs his prized U.S. flag in the yard, 14-year-old Eve is inspired by her father's patriotism and announces she wants to join the Junior ROTC, which concerns Vanessa. Later on, a chance meeting at the VFW with a female armory gunner has an impact on Eve.

Mike is so impressed with Greg, Mandy's new boyfriend and the high school star quarterback, he offers him a job at the Outdoor Man under Kyle's supervision. But when Mandy realizes Kyle is covering for him on the job, she takes a second look at both Kyle and Greg. Meanwhile, Kristin tries to figure out her relationship with Ryan.

When Mike finds out his grandson Boyd is no longer registered at school as a Baxter, Kristen tells him Ryan is recommitted to them and wants their son to start using his last name. Meanwhile, Mandy, Kristin and Eve reunite the Inglorious Baxters in hopes their Valentine's Day music video will go viral.

To celebrate Buffalo Bill Day Sale-abration, the Outdoor Man puts on a classic entertainment skit based on a Wild West Show, directed by Mike and starring Ed as Buffalo Bill and Eve as Annie Oakley. During rehearsals, Ryan has a problem with Mike's interpretation, and Mandy flirts with an oblivious Kyle.

When Mike catches Mandy sneaking into the house late one night after being with Kyle, he wages his own form of psychological warfare on the couple to prevent it from happening again. Meanwhile, Kristin wants to hide the truth from Boyd that she and Ryan are now romantically dating.

Mike hopes that hiring a private soccer coach for Eve will help her chances of getting a scholarship. But the ladies in the Baxter household, especially Vanessa, find themselves quite enamored of the handsome, young man who gets the job.

Mike is surprisingly impressed with Ryan when they take Boyd to a baseball game and have a run-in with a tipsy Bill McKendree (Richard Karn), who's been on a downward spiral ever since Mike failed to give him an Outdoor Man account. Meanwhile, when Mandy gets her laptop and cell phone taken away for failing history, she comes across Mike's old ham radio and starts some unlikely conversations with people from around the world.

Jonathan Taylor Thomas makes a special guest star appearance when he reunites with Tim Allen, his dad from "Home Improvement." When the less-than-studious Mandy gets accepted to not one but two colleges, Kristin realizes it's time to reevaluate where she is in her life. While out on a special date with Ryan, she is pleasantly surprised to see Jon (Thomas), a former co-worker from the diner where she still works, who is now the successful owner of a hip, upscale restaurant. Meanwhile, Mike and Vanessa wonder if Mandy's college choice, a party school in California, is right for her; and Eve gets help with her Junior ROTC competition from neighbor Chuck Larabee.

Mike finds that Mandy's steady boyfriend Kyle's new interest in philosophy is distracting him from his work at The Outdoor Man Store. A solution may be in the offing when camo-wearing and regular customers Brody and Uncle Ray come to the sporting goods store to get outfitted for their annual moose hunting expedition. Meanwhile, Mike is skeptical about his grandson Boyd attending a bilingual school and wants Kristin and Ryan to switch Boyd to a school in his neighborhood.

Although Mike is having a great time teaching Eve how to drive, he thinks Vanessa should take over so she can have a chance to bond with her daughter. Meanwhile, Mandy is annoyed with Mike's constant requests to her boyfriend, Kyle, to work around the house.

Vanessa is concerned that Mandy's boyfriend, Kyle, is holding her back from enjoying college life and urges her to join her old sorority, causing Mandy to have to choose between Kyle and her social life. Meanwhile, Ed is worried about the productivity on The Outdoor Man loading dock and disguises himself to work undercover to figure out what the issue is.

Now that Kristin is a manager at the restaurant owned by the ambitious John Baker (Jonathan Taylor Thomas), she finds herself comparing him to her boyfriend, Ryan, who is still on strike from his beer truck driving job. Meanwhile, Mike and Eve try to catch each other unaware as part of her sniper/hunter training.

When Vanessa tries to relive her PTA glory days by taking over the Halloween haunted house fundraiser for Boyd’s school, her ideas prove too scary for him. Now, Mike must find a way to reassure Boyd and help him face his fears.

Mike is reluctant to support neighbor, Carol Larabee, in her bid for the local school board. So when her campaign signs begin to mysteriously disappear, her husband, Chuck, wonders if Mike is behind it. Also, Eve gets mixed messages when she goes to Mandy and Kristin for romance advice, and Kyle wonders why new Outdoor Man Store employee, Ryan, gets more attention from Ed than he ever has.

After a big snowstorm, Eve is thrilled because now she can start her annual snow shoveling business. But when she finds out her neighbor has beaten her to it, she gets a lesson from Mike on capitalism and the free market.

Since Vanessa is feeling guilty after encouraging Mandy to break up with the sometimes clueless Kyle, she is determined to mend things, but her sincere efforts only seem to make a bad situation worse.

It’s Thanksgiving Day in the Baxter house and Mike’s father, Bud, takes everyone by surprise when he announces his plans to open a recreational marijuana store. Now, Mike struggles between supporting his Dad and questioning the message this new business venture could send to his family.

After giving his great-grandson Boyd a spanking, Bud is surprised that Mike agrees with Kristen and Ryan about not using that style of discipline as a last resort. Meanwhile, when Mandy gives boyfriend Kyle a porkpie hat, he thinks it’s because she wants to “brand” him.

In the spirit of Christmas, the sometimes self-absorbed Mandy plays Santa by anonymously arranging a holiday surprise for Blanca, the Baxters’ housekeeper. Also, when Vanessa gives Boyd a “magical” Elf doll, Ryan wants to tell Boyd it is just a doll, but Mike wants to prove to Ryan that a little Christmas spirit is not a bad thing.

Eve has proudly posted one of Mike’s politically charged blogs on her Facebook page but ignores the kids at school when they start giving her a hard time for her views. Vanessa worries that Eve may become an outcast, but Mike feels like standing up for your beliefs builds character. Meanwhile, a local police officer begins patrolling the neighborhood and the Baxters find themselves in trouble with the law. Mike is outnumbered when the women in his family get off with warnings.

Boyd has become a discipline problem at school, resisting sitting still in class and getting bored easily. When Kristin explains that the school counselor suggests he go on medicine for ADHD, both Ryan and Mike passionately disagree. Meanwhile, with some extra help, Mandy spends all of her time studying in an effort to get good grades for a change.

When tasked with researching his school’s namesake, Boyd gets a little help from Kristin and Ryan and his report causes outrage, prompting the school to reconsider its name. Also upsetting Vanessa, Mike suggests reaching out to school board member and neighbor, Carol Larabee, for help. Meanwhile, Mandy enlists Blanca’s expertise for a class project.

A large bouquet of roses is delivered anonymously to the Baxter’s house on Valentine’s Day. Vanessa knows they’re not for her because Mike doesn’t believe in the frivolity of flowers on a Hallmark holiday. As an expression of his love though, Mike buys Vanessa a Taser, which only adds to her disappointment. Meanwhile, Kristin suspects her boss, John Baker, may be the secret admirer, while Mandy assumes the flowers are from Kyle.

The Baxter’s neighbor Chuck Larabee stops by with his German Shepard, Lady, to let them know that their tiny dog, Muffin, has impregnated his dog. Chuck is very selective about who Lady breeds with because purebred German Shepard puppies are in demand, and he’s not pleased at the litter of mutts Muffin has caused. Meanwhile, Eve takes the highroad and leaves a note on the parked car that Mandy hit, but somehow Mandy reaps the benefits of her sister’s integrity.

Eve has a new boyfriend but refuses to talk about him. After Vanessa pressures her for some good ol’ girl talk, Eve concedes and opens up, much to Vanessa’s joy. But when Mandy and Kristin catch wind that Eve’s boyfriend is taking part in the same overnight Junior ROTC camping trip as Eve, their past mistakes prompt them to be concerned.

For a class project, Many has to showcase her clothing designs at a student fashion show and asks Eve to fill in as a model. After the show, the Baxter’s are beaming with pride for Mandy’s success, until she declares that she’s decided to quit school and use the money Mike and Vanessa set aside for college to make and sell some of her designs. Mike especially doesn’t like the idea of Mandy abandoning her education right when she is finally getting her act together, and the rest of the family isn’t shy to provide their opinions either. But when Mike goes to talk to her, he finds out that Grandpa Bud has complicated things.

Episode Synopsis: Eve wants a new math teacher because hers has a reputation for being tough, and she needs straight A's. However, Mike worries that she's opting for an easy way out of a challenging situation.

After Mike notices a bump on Bud’s head, Bud explains that he was jumped the other night while unloading his truck at the pot shop. While Vanessa says she knew all along that Bud’s business would cause trouble, Mike isn’t ready to think of his dad getting older and tries to suggest ways that Bud can protect himself. Later, Vanessa talks with the girls about their responsibility to care for her and Mike when they reach a certain age.

When Vanessa’s mooching sister April comes to visit, Mike suspects it’s because she needs money. Sure enough, April explains that she’s decided to have a baby but doesn’t have the funds for a donor egg. While Vanessa and Mike aren’t on board, Mandy comes up with a solution. Meanwhile at Outdoor Man, Mike tries pulling a prank on Chuck Larabee that gives him some new perspective.

With some guidance from Mike, Ryan convinces an overprotective Kristin to let Boyd participate in the mutton busting competition at the rodeo to help build Boyd’s confidence. Meanwhile, Eve’s turned off by her boyfriend’s insecurity after he says he doesn’t want her to wear her JROTC uniform to the prom. Having heard about their fight, Eve’s not-so-secret admirer Andrew swoops in.

Mike is ecstatic when Eve is picked to be her high school's first female kicker. But Vanessa feels high school football could be risky for their youngest daughter. Meanwhile, Eve wonders if her boyfriend, Justin, is more envious instead of enthusiastic about her achievement.

Boyd gets sent home early from a birthday party for starting a game of "war," Ryan insists Mike stop exposing his son to action movies and video games. Meanwhile, Vanessa hopes budding fashion designer, Mandy, can help her look awesome when she meets with her still hot-looking college roommates.

The longtime friendship between Mike and Ed is challenged when Ed’s pushy girlfriend, Wendi, thinks Outdoor Man store owner Ed and not Mike should be the face of the sporting goods store. Meanwhile, Eve feels the pressure of being labeled her high school football team’s “female” kicker.

When Mike and Boyd narrowly miss a sinkhole on the interstate, Boyd becomes petrified of leaving the house. Matters get more complicated when Mike and Ryan have different opinions on how best to ease Boyd’s fears.

Mike and Chuck debate the merits of a local ballot measure merging their upscale neighborhood high school with one in the inner city. For Halloween, Ryan dresses up Boyd as a lump of coal – another reminder to Vanessa how her job as a geologist may be hurting the environment.

Mike offers Mandy advice on how to set aside money to pay the taxes on her struggling online clothing business. But she decides to do it her way – by opening up a pop up store at Bud’s Buds.

Mike finds himself in the middle between Kristin and Ryan when it’s discovered that Boyd was never vaccinated for chicken pox. Meanwhile, Mandy refuses to believe that Kyle let Eve beat him in a shooting gallery game.

After Kyle is in a minor motorcycle accident, Mandy is worried for his safety. But Ed is more concerned about the company’s health insurance rates rising. Meanwhile, Ed makes a surprise announcement, and Eve finally gets to play with her high school football team.

When Mike realizes Vanessa has given away his remaining and beloved incandescent light bulbs, he and Chuck go on a mission to track down some of the old-school bulbs. Meanwhile, Mandy announces she’s moving out of the house into her own apartment but leaves out a major detail.

Mike wants to open a fish-and-game eatery, and he invites Kristin to be his business partner. Elsewhere, Mandy needs feathers for some hats she's making, so she accompanies Eve on a pheasant hunt.

When Mike and Vanessa offer the cash-strapped Kristin and Ryan a very generous Christmas present to put toward their wedding, the couple must decide if they will accept -- but there’s a catch that goes along with it. Meanwhile, Kyle has his reasons for asking Ed to teach him how to play poker.

Tim Allen reunites with Patricia Richardson, who played his wife on the acclaimed series “Home Improvement.” Mike butts heads with his new but noisy neighbor, Helen Potts, for waking up the neighbors with her power tools and fix-it projects. But when Vanessa and Helen become fast friends, Mike decides to interfere. Meanwhile, Eve learns that Ed isn’t the type of Vietnam War hero she thought he was.

When an Outdoor Man billboard is vandalized, Mike wants to hire his neighbor Chuck’s security company to protect it. But Vanessa doesn’t want to mix business with friendship since she’s counting on a teaching recommendation from Chuck’s wife, Carol. Meanwhile, Eve benefits from Mandy’s philosophical decision to not take credit for doing household chores.

Although Eve insists she’s OK after her first high school break-up, everyone has an opinion as to how she should deal with her feelings. To take her mind off it, Mike has her tag along to watch sports on Ed’s new 120-inch TV. Also, while shopping for Kristin’s wedding dress, she and Mandy fight over how Kristin broke up with Kyle.

When a neighbor’s security camera catches Vanessa spraying the neighborhood cat with a hose, an upset Mike feels like they don’t have any privacy. But as Mike reviews the security footage, he also sees Mandy in a compromising situation.

When Mike encourges both Ryan and Kyle to stand up for their beliefs, he sees how important it is for them to have a father figure in their lives.

When a homeless man that Kyle has befriended goes missing, Mike uses his vlog to help track him down. Mandy is inspired by Kyle’s good deed and in her unique way, helps a young mother from the woman’s shelter.

When Mike and Vanessa come home early from their anniversary celebration, they are surprised to see that Mandy was planning a party, which included beer for the under-aged guests. Meanwhile, Ed’s unique take on marriage and divorce causes Kristen to get nervous about her own upcoming wedding

When an excited Mandy announces she will accept her dream summer internship job to work with a top fashion designer in New York City -- then suddenly claims she can’t go -- Mike and Vanessa want to figure out why she changed her mind.

At the grand opening of The Outdoor Man Grill, things get tense when restaurant manager Kristin feels like co-owner Ed is undermining her ability to run the place. Meanwhile, Eve distances herself from a childhood girlfriend who seems to have a crush on her.

Vanessa plays matchmaker for Eve and sets her up with one of her students – not realizing Eve may already be going out with someone else. Meanwhile, Mike and Chuck suspect Eve is secretly dating Chuck’s son, Brandon.

When Mike and Ed take Ryan and his supposedly-ailing dad, Victor, on their hunting trip, Victor admits he wasn’t truthful about his reasons for finally coming to see Ryan. Meanwhile, Vanessa scrambles to get more family members to attend Ryan and Kristin’s wedding.

Mike has returned from being on a fantastic two-month road trip traveling to far-flung places for Outdoor Man. It’s great to be back with his wife, Vanessa, and their three daughters, but finds a lot has been going on at home as well as on the job since he’s been away. To top it all off, a tornado is headed toward the Outdoor Man store and the Baxter home.

Amidst the mass chaos of picking up Ryan from school, Mike asks a reluctant Ryan to let Boyd walk home unsupervised. Meanwhile, Ed and Kyle hold a “Doomsday Preppers” meeting, and Eve and Mandy try to keep a secret from Vanessa.

Vanessa tries to educate Eve on why she should be more on board with having a woman president. Meanwhile, after Ed mentions to Mike that he hasn’t seen his own daughter for years, Mike and Mandy try to figure out what they have in common

When Mike blames the public school system for suspending his grandson Boyd from public school, he tells Ryan they should start looking at private schools. Meanwhile, Kristin and Kyle try to capture a raccoon loose in the Outdoor Man restaurant, and Mandy doesn’t want Eve to take photos of her for a class assignment.

When Vanessa and the girls surprise Mike with a 1967 Impala for his birthday, he’s excited to have alone time in the garage with the car. But when the car’s original owner, Joe (guest star Jay Leno), keeps showing up with spare parts and unwanted advice, Mike drops some not-so-subtle hints that he can do without Joe’s help. Meanwhile, Mandy is mad when Vanessa allows Eve to go to a music festival – when she was never allowed to when she was growing up

When Eve tells the family her annoying best friend Cammy needs to move in with them, Mike springs into action to find a way to hand Cammy off on someone else, namely the Larabees. Meanwhile, Kristin asks Mandy to design the new uniforms for the Outdoor Man Grill, but they clash over Mandy’s creative process.

Although Vanessa is disappointed it will only be her, Mike and Eve at the Baxter Thanksgiving table, she’s more let down when Eve bypasses one of their holiday traditions and calls it “goofy.” Meanwhile, Kristin finds out Mandy is lying to their parents about where she and Kyle will be spending Thanksgiving dinner.

When Boyd’s hockey team needs a new coach, Mike surprises everyone when he recommends Ryan for the job since he was an all-star hockey player in high school. Meanwhile, Vanessa doesn’t understand why ideal student Eve is failing in chemistry.

Mike, annoyed at how far his family has moved away from the true spirit of Christmas, tells them he doesn’t want any physical gifts this year. Instead, he just wants each of them to perform a “good deed” for him. Meanwhile, Chuck is nominated to be Outdoor Man’s in-store Santa for the season.

When Mike and Vanessa need a sure winner on their annual college alumnae 5k race teams, they go to extreme measures to see who will win over Eve. Meanwhile, Kristin senses work might get tricky when Ed hires his girlfriend, Wendi, to be the new hostess at The Outdoor Man Grill.

Mike tries to cheer up Eve by showing her career options at Outdoor Man, but car mechanic Joe winds up being an unexpected influence on her. Elsewhere, Kristin fears that she and Mandy no longer share common interests.

When Ed asks Kyle to secretly take an engagement ring to get fitted, Mike spots him with it. Now, he and Vanessa think Kyle is going to propose to Mandy.

Mike has convinced Kristin and Ryan to buy a home instead of renting an apartment. But when he finds the ideal place for them, Ryan surprises everyone with a change of heart and backs out of the idea. Meanwhile, Mandy doesn’t want Eve in the basement, which doubles as her work space, but Kyle defends her right to be there.

When Eve and her friend Cammy form a new band, they sound so horrible that Mike comes up with an idea to break them up, but his plan has unexpected results. Meanwhile, Kyle and Mandy babysit Boyd.

Mike is anxious to buy the miniature tank collection once belonging to the late husband of his neighbor, Helen Potts. But when he discovers Helen already sold the collection, he goes to extremes to make the collection his own. Meanwhile, Kristin and Ed are concerned when a mysterious “Bubba X” posts a scathing review about their dining experience at the Outdoor Man Restaurant.

Mike thinks Vanessa is using too much of his space at home to do her work, so he builds her a detached shed he calls a “she shed,” in their yard. Meanwhile, Kyle has to cope when Kristin is unexpectedly named Employee of the Month at the Outdoor Man.

Mike meets with famous rock climber, and former girlfriend, Billie Cassidy, to persuade the Outdoor Man to sell her line of climbing gear. Billie agrees to the deal but Mike is wary of her one condition: that he has to go on the promotional campaign trip with her. Meanwhile, Mandy helps Kristen and Ryan sell their old possessions.

Vanessa hopes getting a tattoo will change the current status she has with her three daughters from mother/daughter to the friend/friend level. Meanwhile, Ryan gets camping lessons from Kyle.

When Mike finds out future son-in-law Kyle fears meeting with the church’s new minister, Mike tells Kyle to use him and Vanessa as a strong marriage example. But a recent argument ends up sending them to the minister instead. Meanwhile, Ryan helps Eve with her assignment to debate from the opposite side of her politically conservative beliefs.

In honor of Mike’s 25 years at The Outdoor Man, Ed plans a surprise dinner for him and asks Joe and Chuck to come up with the after-dinner speech. Also, Mandy decides that in order for her and Kyle to save money, they should move in with her parents after they’re married.

Mike arrives for work at Outdoor Man to discover Kyle feeding stray cats off the warehouse’s loading dock and quickly puts a stop to it. Meanwhile, Kristin has been working so hard preparing to host her very first brunch at the Outdoor Man Grill that husband Ryan has been feeling neglected. Later on, while watching the security camera feed, Chuck and Mike notice that Kyle left the loading dock door open, and after a closer look, they spot a surprising intruder – a giant bear. Mike now has to find a way to get the bear out of Outdoor Man and keep his family safe.

When a Jack and Jill wedding shower for Mandy and Kyle is announced, Mike is disappointed to learn it’s on the same day as the big Broncos-Chargers game. In an effort to catch the game with Joe (Jay Leno) and the guys, Mike convinces the couple to hold separate showers. Ryan offers to host the men’s festivities at his place, and to Mike’s dismay, he’s more into party planning than anyone would have thought. Meanwhile, Ed’s convinced that sticking to his superstitious rituals is the only way to see to it that the Broncos pull out a big win, even if it means interfering with Mandy’s wedding shower.

Mandy takes a new interest in vaping, and while disappointing to her parents, it also sparks memories of Vanessa’s old smoking habits. As Vanessa and fellow teacher Sheryl commiserate in their stress of the looming teacher’s strike, Ryan and Kristin discover a secret safe in their basement. Later on, Mike finds out that Vanessa has been secretly smoking and must find a way to gently confront her.

Boyd is turning 10 years old, and sticking with the Baxter family tradition, Mike wants nothing more than to give him a shotgun and take him hunting. Kristin is all for it but Ryan has no interest in his son having a gun or harming animals. Meanwhile Kyle and Mandy’s wedding preparations continue as Vanessa tries to convince Kyle to do a mother-son dance with her.

It’s Halloween and the Baxter family is excited for their annual party, except for Mike who’s reluctantly tasked with choosing the theme. In hopes of turning everyone against the holiday, Mike decides that maybe if the whole family has to dress up like each other they’ll end up making fun of one another. Eve dresses up like Mandy and Mandy dresses down like Eve, Kristin and Ryan swap roles, and Mike shows up to the party as… Donald Trump!? The impersonating turns into bickering but in the end, the Baxters come together to support Vanessa as she learns that she’s being laid off.

Having a difficult time supporting Eve’s gap year, Mike gives her a hard lesson on surviving in the real world, but Eve’s unexpected reaction throws Mike for a loop. Meanwhile, Kyle wants to give Mandy the best wedding gift imaginable, so taking inspiration from a story he read online, he works on turning a laser pointer into a car by way of some old-fashioned bartering.

As the big day approaches, Mandy has turned into a full-blown bridezilla. She fires her wedding planner, puts her whole family to work and refuses to let Kyle wear sneakers with his suit. Tired of Mandy’s behavior, Ed opts out of the festivities all together, leaving Mandy to re-cast the role of Kyle’s best man. In the end, Mandy realizes that all she really needs on their wedding day is to be surrounded by family, and the most important thing of all is her love for Kyle.

Mike is determined to get Chuck to sell him a car recently left to him by his late father, but Joe might beat him to the punch. At the Baxter home, Kyle shows up with a family Thanksgiving heirloom, and Vanessa doesn’t even try to hide her distaste for the hideous centerpiece. Meanwhile, Kristin and Ryan are forced to lay down some house rules after learning that Eve’s new boyfriend (Travis Tope) stayed overnight in their basement,

Mandy chooses local-celebrity Mike as the speaker for her business school’s graduation. After learning that the school requires his speech to be PC and micro-agression free, Mike decides whether or not to play by the rules. Meanwhile, Eve’s friend Cammy (Sarah Gilman) is home from college, bragging about how fantastic her new life has been, leaving Eve feeling slightly fruitless and discouraged.

Since losing her teaching job, Vanessa has been spending her time hovering over the family, and it’s driving everyone nuts. Over at Kristin and Ryan’s house, Ryan and Kyle are wrapped-up in a zombie face-off to determine who knows the most about zombies and how to survive an apocalypse. Unable to land a new gig, Vanessa becomes discouraged, but Mike does everything he can to get her back doing what she loves.

It’s Christmas dinner at The Baxters, and the time has finally come for Eve to introduce her new boyfriend, Rob (Travis Tope), to her dad, Mike, and the rest of the clan. After learning about a secret Rob’s been keeping, Mike questions whether or not he approves of this guy for his daughter. Meanwhile, Mandy puts Kristin up to dropping hints to Kyle on what to get her for Christmas, but he’s got something else in mind that’s sure to surprise her.

When Mike and Vanessa turn down Eve’s request for money to cover some recording equipment, Kristin jumps in and offers to front the bill. Mike later confronts Kristin for undercutting his parenting and giving money to Eve, and Kristin snaps back at him for always spoiling Mandy. Back at the Outdoor Man office, Kyle and Ed have an extremely awkward encounter that, in a strange way, brings them closer together. Later on at the Baxter home, dinner turns into disaster, as Eve, Mandy and Kristin argue about how unfairly their parents treat them. With everyone at odds, Mike and Vanessa come up with a plan to reunite the girls.

Mike is thrilled when he is offered to submit an artifact to a renowned museum but things get complicated when Ed admits that this is an honor he’s wanted his entire life. Meanwhile, Mike and his poker buddies decide to go through their colonoscopy prep together; and the girls decide to have a slumber party reminiscent of old times, but things don’t go as planned when Vanessa invites herself.

When Mike and Vanessa ask newlyweds Mandy and Kyle to tone down their constant displays of affection, Mandy agrees but only if her parents become more discreet in the way they express their feelings to each other. Meanwhile, Kristen gets Eve a gig playing at the Grill, but Ed wants to fire her after a lackluster performance.

Mike hopes to get brothers-in-law Ryan and Kyle to learn how to fix things around the house by pitting them against one another. Meanwhile, Eve is caught off-guard when her boyfriend tells her that he loves her.

Mike and Vanessa want Eve to focus on applying for college, but when she finally chooses where she will attend, her firm decision is not the one they expected.

The “Meet Outdoor Man” contest winner Wayne (guest star Brad Leland) believes Mike’s VLOGs contain secret messages. Meanwhile, Vanessa wants to make friends and starts a lending library in her neighborhood, and Chuck adjusts to his new life now that his wife has taken a job in Los Angeles.

Mike and Vanessa become increasingly worried their daughters don’t attend church anymore, so they decide to take it upon themselves to make church more interesting for everyone involved. When Ryan has Kyle as his guest on his podcast, they don’t expect their wives to hear their conversation.

After Mike encourages Vanessa to branch out her tutoring business, she takes his advice but gets frustrated when he gets a little too involved. Meanwhile, Kyle is determined to be like the other Baxter’s and become a high-powered entrepreneur.

When Eve’s boyfriend, Rob, doesn’t invite her to his parents’ anniversary party, Vanessa feels that Eve should tell him how this makes her feel. But Mike disagrees and thinks it’s better for Eve to not say anything. Meanwhile, Kristin and Ryan think it’s beyond the airy Mandy and Kyle to find the hidden clues in an escape room.

Mike and Vanessa think it’s time for newlyweds Mandy and Kyle to move out, but when Chuck relays some unexpected news about Kyle’s absentee mom, Mike has second thoughts. Meanwhile, Eve tells Ryan that Boyd is making up stories about his Dad’s real job, because he’s embarrassed about being home-schooled.

When Mandy job shadows Mike at The Outdoor Man, her textbook conflict resolution skills differ from Mike’s experience-based approach; and she unintentionally causes a dispute between Chuck and Joe. Meanwhile, Kristen and Eve think Vanessa needs to blow off some steam and invite her to their kickboxing class.
