Leslie Nielsen stars in this snortingly successful spin-off from Police Squad, the short-lived TV spoof from the makers of Airplane! He's Lieutenant Frank Drebin, an LAPD detective who doesn't allow his utter cluelessness get in the way of cracking a case involving drug smugglers and an assassination attempt on Queen of England. From the subtle to the slapstick, it's stuffed with more gags than a kidnapper's kit bag, and boasts amusing turns from Priscilla Presley, George Kennedy and OJ Simpson as Drebin's, er, partners in crime.
