Constance Wu stars as an NYU economics professor whose dashing dreamboat boyfriend Nick (Henry Golding) wants to take her back home to Singapore for his best friend's wedding. It's a prospect made just a smidge more daunting when Nick suddenly lets it slip that he's the heir to a gargantuan property empire, and his massive and obscenely wealthy family, closely watched over by domineering matriarch Eleanor (Michelle Yeoh), own most of the island.
