It’s the first winter break from college, when a goup of young well-educated upper-class New Yorkers gather for some get-togethers, discussing life and current affairs as if they knew everything there is to know in life – the way that newly become adults have done through all times. Whit Stillman’s debut feature Metropolitan has become both a cult classic and a part of the American film canon. It was nominated for the Best Original Screenplay Academy Award and was met with unanimous critical praise – and has been ever since it’s release. Metropolitan is a one-of-a-kind wonder in film history.
