Happy Face

Misfits -turned-friends meet at a support group meant for people with facial differences and led by a questionably unstable facilitator. Stan is trying to understand how it feels to be different. His home life is changing as his mother struggles with her own disfigurement from an aggressive cancer. Powerless over his mom’s despair of her now imperfect body, Stan infiltrates the group members as one of their own. His bandages hide the pain inside and his lack of disfigurement goes undetected for only a short time. Once discovered, Stan hustles the group by forcing them to face their fears and the real issues that plague them beyond the physical. His arrogant attitude is fed by anxiety but the group soon realizes that his bravado serves as a protective mask to what’s damaged inside. In the end, Stan must exceed his own limitations to find his imperfect place in the world
