Heartened by Asta’s unexpected summoning, Yuno recalls the events of 10 years earlier and how an urgent errand led to the unbreakable promise he made.

Asta and Yuno set out to the far-flung capital of the Clover Kingdom to take the first step in their journey: the Magic Knights Entrance Exam.

The orphans enter the exam. After becoming acquainted with the nine squad captains, Asta and Yuno have their magical skills quickly put to the test.

The squad captains keep a watchful eye on Asta and Yuno as the grueling exams continue. Finally, they each choose who they want to join their squads.

Asta meets the rowdy members of Black Bull and is forced to complete a brutal initiation ritual before being officially accepted into the squad.

While giving Asta a guided tour of the Black Bull hideout, Magna introduces him to the squad’s other newest member, the elegant yet haughty Noelle.

Asta is made to do chores around the Black Bull hideout. But things start looking up for him when he and Noelle are assigned their first mission.

After taking care of the boars, Asta, Noelle and Magna head to Saussy Village. But when they arrive, they find it enveloped in a thick magical mist.

With Noelle’s barrier unable to hold up for long, Magna and Asta push themselves to the limit in order to protect the villagers and each other.

Asta and the others return from their mission and receive their first star of honor. Later, Vanessa takes the two rookies to the castle town of Kikka.

In the Black Market, Asta teams up with Sekke to stop a purse snatcher. Meanwhile, Yuno heads off on his first mission with Golden Dawn.

Yuno and Golden Dawn visit Sister Lily at the orphanage. But when tragedy strikes, Yuno's feelings get the better of him and he heads out alone.

By order of the Wizard King, Asta is sent to explore a newly discovered dungeon. But as it's too dangerous to go alone, Noelle and Luck join him.

Asta and Noelle encounter Yuno and his squad. Elsewhere in the dungeon, Luck runs into “Hell Lotus,” a powerful Mage Warrior from a rival kingdom.

The Golden Dawn members struggle to fend off a powerful enemy mage. Meanwhile, Luck refuses help from his squadmates and insists on going at it alone.

Yuno and Klaus’s attacks prove ineffective against a seemingly invincible Mars. Just when all hope seems lost, some unexpected backup arrives.

The Golden Dawn and Black Bull members reach the treasure chamber and are captivated by the pile of loot within. But they aren't out of the woods yet.

Yuno digs deep to rescue his squadmates and injured friend from Mars’s deadly clutches. A moment of magical brilliance causes the dungeon to collapse.

Asta and Noelle head to the capital to report on their dungeon mission when they and Yuno's Golden Dawn comrades encounter someone wholly unexpected.

When Asta causes a scene at their party, a group of nobles gangs up on him. Elsewhere, the necromancer Rades begins his advance on the Clover Kingdom.

The Clover Kingdom's Magic Knights band together to fight off hordes of zombies. Meanwhile, Asta confronts Rades, the mage behind the mayhem.

Rades continues to effortlessly keep Asta and his backup, Noelle and Leopold, at bay. But the tables turn when a squad captain arrives and takes over.

The Magic Knights clean up the mess made by Rades' zombies, but it soon becomes apparent that he wasn't acting alone in his attack on the kingdom.

Black Bull’s Charmy gets serious when she believes Catherine is after her food. Elsewhere, Asta corners Rades with his magic-nullifying sword.

Asta and his friends are confronted by the mages orchestrating the siege. But even with Asta's swords, it's still three rookies against five adepts.

After the Magic Knights secure the capital, the Wizard King meets with them and learns that their enemy has escaped with an important stone.

Finral has plans to go to a mixer. But with all his other squadmates likely to scare off the girls, he decides to invite Asta and Luck in joining him.

While Asta trains in the forest, his acquaintances reminisce about his path so far, from when he summoned his grimoire to fighting off enemy mages.

It's payday at the Black Bull hideout and Gauche, with his little sister's birthday just around the corner, knows exactly what he's doing first.

Asta, Gauche and Sister Theresa set out to find a group of missing orphans while Noelle stays back to stand guard. Marie awakens to a dire situation.

Sekke hurries to get backup for Asta and Gauche but finds their squad in disarray. Meanwhile, Asta and the others work to recover the children.

Gauche hurries to get Marie to safety, but she insists he turns back. Asta fights an uphill battle against Sally's seemingly unkillable mud monster.

Backup finally arrives for Asta and the others. Yami shows Licht, the leader of the Eye of the Midnight Sun, why he's the captain of Black Bull.

Yami and Licht continue to clash in an intense battle of light versus dark magic. Meanwhile, Asta takes the opportunity to go up against Valtos.

Yami restrains Licht and Valtos as he and his allies wait to be teleported out of the cave. However, this only gives Licht's backup time to arrive.

Squad captains Charlotte, Jack the Ripper and Nozel engage the three Third Eye mages. Licht reveals a shocking truth about Asta's swords.

Asta begins his recovery before heading back to the Black Bull hideout for an eating contest. Later, he and Yami are summoned to the capital.

The squad captains confront an alleged traitor when he turns invisible and tries to flee. But with Asta and his swords nearby, he doesn’t get far.

The Black Bull squad gears up to spend a day at the beach. But there's only one thing on Noelle's mind: what Asta will think of her swimsuit.

Asta and Noelle discover a young girl named Kahono singing on the beach. After speaking to her, they soon learn that they have a few things in common.

Employing Noelle's water magic, the Black Bull members head to the Underwater Temple. But they'll need more than magic if they want to get inside.

Yami sits down with the eccentric High Priest Gifso to watch each of the separated Black Bull members pair off against the Underwater Temple's mages.

An intruder nearly cuts Gifso's game short when he easily disposes of Gio. Yami tries to intervene but the High Priest is powerless to assist him.

In a last-minute intervention, Asta clashes with Vetto as he tries to save his injured squadmates. Elsewhere, Gauche ends up in a fight of his own.

Kahono encourages her brother to stand up and fight alongside her. But when things turn awry, it's up to Noelle to take on Vetto and save her friends.

Vanessa finds herself in a battle with an Eye of the Midnight Sun mage before regrouping with the members of her squad to make one final stand.

Finral and Vanessa work together to send Asta flying around Vetto. But when Vetto begins reading his moves, one slipup could spell the end for Asta.

Vetto traps Asta and calls for him and his squad to give in. But Asta, with his relentless tenacity, is only spurred to fight even harder and faster.

The Black Bull Knights retrieve the magic stone they came searching for. Elsewhere, the Eye of the Midnight Sun begins plotting to take it back.

Yami’s squad returns to the Clover Kingdom and meets with Julius. But there's little time to rest as the border town of Kiten falls under attack.
