I recently watched the conjuring so I'm not sure if my opinion may be slightly offset, but here it goes. Immediately from the start, you can tell this is one of those hand cam Cloverfield/Paranormal activity type films, but where those films shined (either with large budgets or decent directing), I felt disappointed by Apartment 143. I can explain why I didn't like this film in the following example: At one part in the film, the camera moves to the locations of the ghost activity maybe a few milliseconds before it happens, which for me, ruined the entire atmosphere. It just didn't hook me, I'm all for budget horrors, I liked V/H/S but this was too predictable (partial spoiler), ghost in house, ghost gets more and more violent, big bad ending where sh*t gets real, the gradual calm down at the end as the dust settles. Imagine a budget transformers movie, you can guess the general plot (as its transformers), there are no robots (due to being budget) and when the action does happen it feels like a let down. In summary, if you can overlook the above and you really enjoy the style of horror, rent it, who knows you may enjoy it, if not then probably one to miss. Sorry guys!

The film is very slow strange acting however if you like to have heart attack through film then this is the film to watch. I really did enjoy it, a few really good moments that really did make me jump. would recommend this film.

This film doesn't bring anything new to the table in this genre, but I still found it enjoyable and often tense. It has a darker feel to it than the paranormal activity franchise, in part because of the location setting.
