Up on the Roof
Polish chef Stefan, 42, still works in the same London cafe he worked at when he split with Emily, the love of his life, fifteen years ago. Since then, he's lived in an old warehouse community of misfit friends who support each other through tough times. Although nothing much has moved on for him, he still holds on to the dream of owning his own cafe. Meanwhile Emily, who has put her successful career above everything else, feels unfulfilled. When they meet again by chance, the chemistry between them is palpable. Emily is impressed when Stefan boasts that he too has made a success of his life. They agree to meet again. Later, when Stefan confesses to Emily that his success is just a fantasy, she's insulted that he felt the need to lie to her. Stefan realises he must do something to win her back. The opportunity arises when Emily's best friend desperately needs help after the caterer for her charity party cancels. Stefan steps in with his eclectic group of friends and makes the party a success. But the evening ends badly for both of them. Emily's long-term lover turns up... and he has a wife. Shocked by the deceit of the men in her life, she takes her anger out on Stefan. While Stefan contemplates the rest of his life without her, Emily realises that perhaps ambition has clouded her judgement. Is now the right time to give him a second chance?
