I have to admit, 4 stars because the original still the best. However, Mr Jackson's remake is superb in the visual while adding little touches here and there that expanded upon the first movie. Not only because of the visual wonders of the fxs but because the actors really live up to their billings. Shot of applause for Ms watts for such a subtle performance that in others hands would have been the usual damsel in distress. And thanks for adding that scene down in that revere where that got me on the edge.

...including fighting to stay awake during first hour of the movie. Plot has been done before, of course, but I gave the film a shot anticipating amazing visual effects (which it had), but not much of it . I would say it is worth the time to watch once if you had nothing to do better for a few hours, but then avoid wasting any more of your life watching it again.

It's too bad that the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences don't give serious consideration to monster movies. This film should have swept the Oscars. Naomi Watts and Andy Serkis, (as Kong, not Lumpy), were brilliant. As were the cinematography, special effects, sound and director.
