In the fifth season, the whole family travels to Italy in "Italy, Part 1 and 2." Upon returning from their trip Ray and his parents have the most explosive fight to date in "Wallpaper." Plus, the separation of Debra's seemingly perfect parents (Katherine Helmond and Robert Culp) leaves her devastated in "Separation." Robert's romantic troubles recur throughout the season, culminating in the nightmare of having his ex-girlfriends meet to hash out everything that's wrong with him.
