Hardwired

Great story idea, horrible delivery. Low budget, which is fine if people are taking pride in their work and being creative, not the case for this movie imo. Val Kilmer's shaggy drunk surfer hair wig looked ridiculously fake (his hair never looks like what it is on the cover), in general felt like he was phoning it in and not putting much effort into the role. Cuba Gooding Jr. did a decent job, but like Val, it has a "just doing this role for the money" kind of vibe. They also could have done a better job of developing the plot, they mainly used people doing super long explanations to explain things, it's a movie you can use visual elements/scenes to explain and move along the plot! The soundtrack also was not good. Just some hand drums and random synth sounds mostly. This results in making scenes that are supposed to be exciting and tense, incredibly boring. The movie was only an hour and a half, but it felt like forever. Super obvious plot twist. Unfortunately, not bad enough to be good in a bad way, I think the lackluster soundtrack really is the nail in the coffin. Music adds more than we realize to movies (until it's done poorly!)

I try not to be too harsh on movies that obviously have low budgets because they are definitely limited on what they can do. However, Hardwired is just dreadful. The story is garbled nonsense and the known actors phone in their performances long distance. A complete waste of your time.

This movie kept me entertained from beginning to end.
