About this movie

In the distant future Earth is divided into two camps, the barely civilized group and the overly civilized one with mental powers.  One day a barbarian, Zed, stows away in the giant head that supplies the barbarians with munitions and food and that his people worship.  When the head returns to its station in a lush city, the barbarian finds himself surrounded by the telekinetic ruling class of "Homo Eternals". Zed finds out that the Eternals control the head and are using it to rule over the barbarian people.  A plague is attacking the Eternals which causes the victims to have a lack of interest in life and become nearly catatonic.  After being captured by the Eternals using there telekinetic powers, the group decides to study Zed.  Zed's capture causes a great upheaval as the Eternal's lives and the tenuous balance in their world is seriously threatened.

I would rate this as one of my top five favorite science fiction movies of all time. Brilliant social commentary. Its themes on sex, immortality, war, and Utopian civilization is amazing. Many movies before and after this have touched on these themes, but I think Zardoz does it in the most unique way possible. Hugely underrated movie, and Sean Connery is brilliant.

Anybody who even likes this ironically - I don't even know what to say. It is the most mind-numbing, mystifying, mysterious movie I have ever seen - and not in a good way. This movie sucks. Flat-out sucks. If you like it in any way, your opinion is bad and you should feel bad. I'd give it zero stars if I could. It isn't even funny. I don't think I'm overreacting and if you think I am, watch it for yourself. And try to endure the stupidity.

An abomination. To paraphrase Mr. T: "I pity the fool that sat thru this!" Amazing that this movie did not destroy the careers of the writers, producers, directors and actors who made this trash.
