With the professional detachment of a seasoned veteran, homicide detective Caleb Barnes (Stephen Baldwin) has spent many years battling the ever-changing face of evil. Since the accidental death of his only child, however, Barnes has found that detachment impossible to maintain. The routine horror of his work has become a constant reminder of the devastation his loss has wrought on his wife and their marriage. In his search for an understanding of the tragedy, Barnes becomes obsessed with a series of bizarre murders.
