The book is fantastic. This film bears hardly any relation to it.Whole swathes of the text are omitted which would be fine if the integrity is maintained. It isn't.Important characters are missing, plot is changed to fit and the whole nuance of the mother's relationship to the father is completely avoided.Incredible it won best picture Oscar.Script is exposition led,and the actors frequently say their lines over other actors. And James Dean gurns his way through.

The image and cast list refer to the James Dean film but the synopsis refers to the miniseries. Any reviewers care to confirm which version this actually is??
