Beauty for the Asking

Lucille Ball stars as a young beautician who, after being dumped by her boyfiend makes a successful life and fortune on her own in the comic romance Beauty for the Asking. After Jean Russell's (Ball) beau, Denny Williams (Patrick Knowles), leaves her to marry wealthy Flora Barton (Frieda Inescort), Jean invents a popular beauty cream and promotes it with the help of advertising man Jeffrey Martin (Donald Woods). But in a remarkable twist of fate, Flora becomes Jean's main investor. Now, unhappy with Flora and seeing that Jean is worth millions, Denny tries to leave Flora and court Jean. But it's too late for Denny; Jean marries the man who truly loves her--Jeffrey.
