Light in the Piazza

When American Margaret Johnson (de Havilland--Gone with the Wind) travels to Italy with her charming, beautiful daughter, Clara (Mimieux), Clara meets a young Italian, Fabrizio (Hamilton), who falls deeply in love with Clara, and Clara seems to be equally in love with Fabrizio. But the young Fabrizio has only a limited ability to speak English, and Margaret cannot tell if the young man is aware that the woman he loves is profoundly mentally handicapped due to a childhood injury.
