About this movie

SCTV alum Rick Moranis ("The Little Shop of Horrors," "Honey, I Shrunk the Kids") and Dave Thomas portray the classic Canadian beer-guzzling duo, the MacKenzie Brothers, as they try to stop a mad beer brewer from gaining control of the world. Co-starring Oscar and Golden Globe-nominee Max von Sydow ("The Exorcist") and Paul Dooley ("Breaking Away," "Runaway Bride"). Outrageous fun loosely based on Shakespeare's "Hamlet." Well, there's definitely something strange here (besides the brew). While there are a couple of parts I found funny enough to chuckle to, I don't think it's a great movie (even for a goofball comedy). It seems like the constant joke here is how zany these two slacker Canadian guys who love beer are by always saying things like "Eh", "Beauty", "Hoser", "Take Off", and "Ok". Honestly, I think Wayne's World did two goofball Canadian guys comedy way better than this.

A wonderful comedic nod to, and/or spoof of, Shakespeare’s Hamlet, in which the McKenzie Bros fill the roles of Rosencrantz & Guildenstern. This movie will always be in my top 10 comfort movies.
