The Pemberton family leave rainy Yorkshire for sunny Florida to run an RV park. Mal - an eternal optimist - doesn't make for the best businessman and we soon learn that he has bought the park without properly seeing it.

Mal tries to keep the peace with the park's burliest resident, Troy, whilst Tina and Freddie struggle to navigate American High School. Meanwhile, Jen accepts an invite to a ladies lunch with her neighbour Rhoda.

There's an explosion at the park, which turns out to be the septic tank. Mal and Jen turn for help to the father of Tina's new boyfriend – Herman Bloch.

Troy's wrestling nemesis, Krakatoa, arrives at the park and demands a rematch to settle an old wrestling feud. Mal seizes on the opportunity to get some much-needed, free publicity for the park by cosying up to Krakatoa.

To Jen's horror, her Mum, Maureen, arrives three weeks early for her trip to Florida. The park is in a total state so Jen decides to take Maureen off for a pamper weekend.

The Pembertons discover to their dismay that they don't own the entry road to their own park – and to make matters worse, they owe the county a huge amount of money in rent. They smell a rat and decide to fight back.

About this show

When Mal Pemberton (Glenister) decides to uproot his family from their lives in Yorkshire and move to sunny Florida to run a trailer park, there are a few details he decides not to reveal. But, eternal optimist Mal doesn't make the best businessman, and has bought the park without ever seeing it. Arriving to find that the park is a complete mess and home to an eclectic mix of residents, who know nothing about the new owners and refuse to leave, the family soon discover that 'living the dream' may be more of a challenge than they were led to believe...
