Just as renowned neurosurgeon Kenzo Tenma grows tired of hospital politics, he is faced with a difficult decision that carries huge consequences.

While the boy's operation is a success, the mayor is not so lucky. Tenma sees his prospects at the hospital crumble and his engagement canceled.

Nina enters a bar in Frankfurt under a guise to try to find Johan's whereabouts. Tenma follows soon afterward based on information from Nina's source.

Nina learns of the plot to burn down the Turkish district in Frankfurt. Dieter learns about the car hitting Tenma, who takes a beating in captivity.

Tenma defies Wolf and heads back to Frankfurt to thwart the fire plot. Nina uses a gun to compel The Baby to tell her where the main fire will start.

The police talk to Nina about the fire before she reunites with her old acquaintance Rosso. Nina recalls her time working in his Italian restaurant.

Tenma visits old friend and criminal psychologist Gillen to discuss Johan, but the meeting backfires when he suspects that Tenma is the killer.

On their way to Freiham, Tenma and Dieter hitchhike with an elderly English couple. The husband, a former police officer, gets suspicious about Tenma.

At Schuwald's request, a private investigator looks into Fahren's suicide. Karl meets Johan and opens up about his own childhood in foster homes.

Richard hopes to reconnect with his family and tries to avoid the temptation to drink again. Karl faces difficult decisions about family.

After Schuwald tells him to stop investigating Fahren's death, Richard reviews old unsolved murders and notices a connection between the cases.

After several children fall to their deaths, one survivor explains the incidents' connection to Johan, who seems to know that Tenma plans to kill him.

Lotte learns what caused Johan to pass out. Johan receives a letter signed "the Red Hindenburg" and visits the red-light district to follow up on it.

Instead of spending time with his daughter, Lunge learns about Tenma's character by meeting with some Japanese businessmen who knew him well.

Reichwein visits Schuwald to explain Johan's monstrous history. On the day of the book donation ceremony, Tenma lies in wait for the event to begin.

After reading the book that caused Johan to pass out, Nina rushes to the library. With his target in his sights, Tenma prepares to pull the trigger.

Tenma and Roberto face off on the balcony while the fire grows in the library. Amid the raging flames, Johan calmly narrates the scene to Schuwald.

In the aftermath of the fire, Lunge meets Karl at the hospital and starts to believe that Johan might really exist, but he struggles to find evidence.

On a train to Prague, Grimmer, a journalist investigating the misconduct at 511 Kinderheim, meets Tenma and helps him evade the authorities.

Grimmer ruffles feathers by following former Kinderheim director Petrov around Prague and trying to obtain evidence of its immoral experiments.

A police inspector asks Grimmer about Petrov's death and last words. Later, Grimmer tries to prevent the key from falling into the wrong hands.

Detective Suk finds the bodies of his mentor and his accomplices at a crime scene. As he drowns his sorrows, he sees a familiar-looking girl.

Suk interviews the children from Petrov's orphanage about Grimmer, but they only have kind things to say. Tenma learns more about the twins' mother.

The new police chief suspects Suk's involvement in the recent corruption and has him followed. Suk and Grimmer meet and finally use Petrov's key.

Tenma reads about Suk's case and the Czechoslovakian secret police crime syndicate. He visits Suk's mother, who reveals the location of his hideout.

Arriving in Prague with Dieter, Nina is stunned when several people call her Anna. Tenma and Grimmer search for Suk but struggle to locate him.

Tenma and Grimmer arrive at the hospital to retrieve the tape from Suk's mother, only to surmise that Johan had visited her just before they did.

To prove Grimmer's innocence, the boys from the orphanage decide to find the blonde girl who killed Petrov. Grimmer and Tenma pay them a visit.

Lunge interrogates Suk in the hospital. Later, he gets permission from Ranke to tear down a wall and access a secret room in the Red Rose Mansion.

Imprisoned in Germany, Tenma is asked by the guards to help treat another inmate: Milch, a conman with a long history of successful prison escapes.

After Tenma learns the true identity of his lawyer and the plans to kill Eva because of what she knows, he considers fleeing the prison with Milch.

Roberto maneuvers closer to Eva while her guard is down. Gustav prepares to break Tenma and Milch free from the prison van with a dangerous ploy.

Tenma tracks down Eva's hotel room in a bid to reach her before Roberto does. Verdemann gets a surprise visitor, who asks him about his father.

Tenma starts the long journey to the Red Rose Mansion. Nina and Dieter wander around Prague looking for the same building, guided by Nina's memories.

Nina recalls her and Johan's adoption, playing together as children, and the night he murdered their parents and asked her to shoot him.

Suffering with a gunshot wound, Eva's bodyguard Martin asks to see Tenma. Two months prior, he reluctantly takes on the role of protecting Eva.

Martin encounters Tenma in a diner and beats him up. After attending a party with Eva, Martin once again meets Tenma, who demands information.

Martin goes to kill Eva, but he can't pull the trigger and helps her escape. When the organization's men find him, a fierce gunfight breaks out.

Nina visits key locations in Prague in an attempt to trigger her memories. Suk and Verdemann interrogate people who visited the Red Rose Mansion.

Police find Tenma, but a van runs him over in the resulting chase. He awakes in the house of a dentist named Milan, who bears a grudge against Capek.

The day before his retirement, Inspector Weissbach escorts a serial killer who talks about his motives and his link to young Johan and Anna Liebert.

The Baby has dinner with a dancer after he takes a special interest in her. He talks with Capek about his concerns over Johan and the latest murders.

Johan surprises Capek in a tense encounter. When Capek's men go to retrieve Nina from her hotel room, they find her waiting for them with a gun.

Capek explains to Nina how her parents met as the result of an experiment, the circumstances of her birth, and the true mastermind behind it all.

In the burned ruins of the Red Rose Mansion, Johan describes to Nina his childhood abduction from the Three Frogs and the day of the mansion massacre.

Lunge visits the sleepy town of Ruhenheim and suggests that the police should be on alert. He later encounters Grimmer, who is using an alias.

The Heinichs grow more paranoid after finding Mr. Konrad's body. After telling Nina what he learned about Bonaparta, Tenma meets Lipsky in Prague.

In the pouring rain, bodies start to appear all over town. Grimmer comforts Wim before he and Lunge reveal a shocking truth about the hotel owner.

Grimmer prepares to defend the hotel. While Tenma helps some residents of Ruhenheim escape and Lunge searches for answers, the two come face-to-face.

Lunge sweeps the hotel looking for Roberto. When Tenma tells Bonaparta about the letter found at the Red Rose Mansion, Bonaparta makes a confession.

Nina and Gillen rush toward the action as Tenma finally comes face-to-face with Johan, who urges Tenma to take his life by threatening Wim.

Karl tells Schuwald about what happened to Tenma, and Eva speaks with Reichwein about her improvement. Suk, Verdemann and Lunge pay their respects.
