(Series Premiere) British Section 20 agents Michael Stonebridge and Kate Marshall are instructed by their boss, Colonel Eleanor Grant, to head to New Delhi, where a terrorist leader named Latif is rumored to be planning a major attack. Before joining Grant and Kate in India, Stonebridge detours to Malaysia, to recruit Damien Scott, a former Delta Force operative who was dishonorably discharged on the eve of the Iraq invasion. Agreeing to help hunt down Latif (for a fee), Scott decodes a secret message on a videotape, then joins Stonebridge in New Delhi, where the two check in to the Royal Lotus Hotel--just as a group of 16 terrorists are setting up a siege. The group's aim: to kidnap a mysterious hotel guest. As Grant and a Pakistani counterpart, Major Ashkani, set up surveillance, Scott and Stonebridge manage to slip through the grasp of the terrorists, imbedding themselves in the hotel with hopes of ending the siege, finding Mahmood, and bringing the elusive Latif to justice.

With Scott and Stonebridge still imbedded at the Royal Lotus Hotel, Maj. Gen. Kohli of India agrees to hold off on a government assault until morning. Terrified hostages continue to huddle in the booby-trapped lobby while Scott and Stonebridge play cat-and-mouse with the terrorists, trying to keep a coveted guest, Iman Zubedah, from falling into the hands of Latif. As Stonebridge tends to Scott's wound in a suite, the American reveals that he was framed for drug possession as a Delta Force member--no doubt because he had learned about a covert shipment of WMDs that were lifted from Iraq. As dawn approaches outside the hotel, Grant and Ashkani brace for a denouement that could liberate the hostages and Mahmood - or turn the Royal Lotus into a flaming pile of rubble and corpses.

Section 20's search for Latif takes the team to South Africa, where Stonebridge, Scott and Marshall stake out a trio of suspects on a "capture, not kill" order from Grant. The job leads them to a ruthless ex-IRA leader-turned-mercenary named Daniel Connolly, whose heist of an armored truck in Cape Town turns out to be about more than just money. While Marshall is sent to caution a wealthy weapons-system designer named Kenneth Bratton about a possible security breach, Scott ends up trading places with a computer hacker hired by Connolly--a ruse that is fraught with danger for the American.

In order to force the delivery of a cache of weapons to war-torn Darfur, Janjaweed terrorists abduct Clare Somersby, a refugee-clinic doctor whose father is Latif's chief armorer, British arms dealer Gerald Crawford. The kidnapping gives Section 20 a lead on Latif, albeit through an alliance with Crawford, whose weapons were likely used in the assaults in New Delhi and Cape Town. Though Stonebridge holds Crawford personally responsible for past carnage, he and Scott are forced to pose as Crawford's aides in Sudan during negotiations spearheaded by Matak, a corrupt government minister. With an inquisitive American journalist (and occasional Scott paramour) named Maggie and her local guide Jacoub in tow, the Section 20/Crawford entourage arrange a rendezvous to secure Clare's release in exchange for cash. However, it's soon apparent that the Janjaweed leader, Tahir, wants more than money before he'll part ways with his hostage.

Meanwhile, Grant threatens Maggie to keep her from breaking the story, while Scott finds that hospitals can be hazardous to your health. Behind the abduction is a Kosovo heroin overlord, Fatmir Hasani, who seeks the release of his cousin Agim Rama, an imprisoned terrorist involved in multiple international attacks. Under the auspices of Kosovo peacekeeping forces (KFOR) led by U.S. Major Donoghue, Scott and Stonebridge are airlifted with Rama into a Kosovo forest in an attempt to make an exchange. But an unforeseen firefight turns the site into chaos, and Scott and Stonebridge's efforts to escape with the hostages are derailed when they reach the KFOR recovery site--and find it abandoned. Charging sexy hostage Dana Van Rijn to look after her companions, Scott and Stonebridge trek to a Hasani heroin facility, where they hope to hijack a truck to transport the group to safety.
