Miner Ralph Burton gets trapped in a small cave-in. He digs his way out to find every living soul on earth has vanished. Making his way to New York City, he eventually encounters, Inger Stevens and Benson Thacker. As the only people left on Earth, their continuing existence is complicated by racial and sexual tensions.
