About this movie

One of the most debated films of our time, this beautiful, hypnotic and disturbing Lars von Trier film brought Charlotte Gainsbourg the Best Actress prize at Cannes, then electrified and scandalized audiences worldwide. Says von Trier: "I invite you for a tiny glimpse behind the curtain, a glimpse into the dark world of my imagination: into the nature of my fears, into the nature of ANTICHRIST...I suffered from depression. I couldn't work. Six months later, just as an exercise, I wrote a script, a kind of therapy. I did not follow my usual modus operandi. Scenes were added for no reason. Images were composed free of logic or dramatic thinking. They often came from dreams I was having, or dreams I'd had earlier. In any case, I can offer no excuse for ANTICHRIST."

This is the most demonic film based on your dreams Lars appears to be in desperate need of psychiatric treatment himself. Whomever said this is a work of art must spend their days as a mortician. it's morbid, evil, destructive and delves deep into the occult. this is much more than insanity or grief over the loss of the child which she abused terribly while in Eden the previous summer. Her problems began long before the death of the child , with her writing her thesis on the occult. Don't watch!!

Read the movie's wiki page before renting. For most viewers, this movie has no entertainment "value" nor does it contain any insight about anything of substance; It will invoke confusion and wonder at the incoherent scenes along with deep regret for renting and watching. This movie is for those interested in a psychoanalysis of a slow and morbid film with disturbing sex scenes of mania, depression and psychotic breakdown. Film is very symbolic and pseudo-intellectual. For the rest of us - *skip*

I actually watched this on my Xbox a few months ago and it was weird, long and horrific in a bad way. It jumped from one crazy story to the next and I would not allow my kids view this for a number of reasons. 1 good reason was the nudity and sexual encounters that made William Defoe appearances fleeting. Should have turned down the movie quickly.
