About this movie

Oscar®-nominated actor Casey Affleck, in his directorial debut, together with fellow Oscar® nominee Joaquin Phoenix blow the roof off of conventional filmmaking in this unique and groundbreaking experimental project. Joaquin gives a powerful performance as “JP,” an out-of-control Hollywood celebrity who commits career suicide in announcing that he is “retiring” from acting, while at the top of his game, to become a hip-hop star. JP shuts himself off from the protection and better judgment of his agent, manager and publicist, and sets out on a jaw-dropping journey into a decadent frenzy of sex, drugs and outrageousness, as he tries desperately to break away from his old celebrity persona to develop his rap career. Mired in self-doubt and harsh criticism from the media, he struggles to find his identity.

This was very difficult for me to watch. Not because it's horrible because it's very honest and a raw look on an individual life. I know I couldn't bare all my life entirely the way Joaquin Phoenix has in this film.

I watch the movie last night. I will say at first I was shocked. I think him and his brother are or for his brother was a good actor. People (Hollywood) and even out side of Hollywood doesn't think mental health is a problem. I'm surprised only a few checked on him. His roommates need to go. I hope he's gotten the help he needs. People should not judge others. He's been thru a lot. Good movie documentary to me.

How can you accept reviews from people who dont even watch the film they are posting on..??? Now I know why movie reviews are rarely of any real use anymore. They are either manipulated by someone connected to the film or someone who just woke up hating the world & this app gave them the vehicle & opportunity to share their misery with everyone using the app to actually decide on a movie to watch. I realize you cannot control who uses an app, but there has to be a standard set to qualify to post
