Why cant american films be like this, awesome actors, fantastic story and not cheesy at all like other recent films in the past years. This reminds me of centurion, may not find a big A list cast but they do the job 10 times better. But that is what i think and has been on my mind for a least a decade or so

Giamatti puts out a compelling and entrancing performance as king. It's almost as if he may have some Shakespearean acting in his background. Although there may have been liberty taken with historical facts, such as depicting the Danish forces as pagan when they were already Christianized during this period, there was rarely a dull moment. However, there is a lot of gratuitous violence and acts of cruelty depicted, that I'm not sure was historically accurate as well. For example close up shots of a cleric having his tongue cut out is depicted graphically and a bit hard to watch. If you have children under the age of 12, it might be a bit too violent for them to deal with.

The Magna Carta was the Greatest document of its time, as is the US Constitution in its day and Today.
